My Fleet Sails in to Minefield

I thought that you're ships would avoid minefields, so can someone explain how this occurred ?, I got out of it unscathed.
Location was Takeshiki.

Yeah, sometimes battles start with your ships inside the "Takeshiki Circle", if they happen to be in that map hex when they meet the enemy. That's a risk you take for going there.

It's not too big a risk, though. I've never hit a mine at Takeshiki in all the times this has happened to me. I figure my skippers think it's worth the risk to see if there's any shipping at the place. Nevertheless, I always get the Hell outta there ASAP before worrying about what the enemy's doing ;).

I've done all sorts of things inside that circle with my Vlad cruisers. Sailed through from one side to the other, chased the enemy into it, etc. No damage taken whatsoever from mines. I think its more of an implied threat. There aren't really any mines there. At least, none that detonate.

I hope minefields are more deadly in Jutland! Then there's always the trick of getting the AI how not to sail into them too much!
