This will be quite short as the war is already over after turn 14 with a Soviet Surrender.
Right Wing Axis.
After a few skirmishes early on the soviets attacked and routed the rumanians. My response was to let any dream of a coherent front go and race to the Soviet rear with all that might move (COYs and BTNS). This and a paradrop cut the Soviets supply line, and to my amazement nothing was done to restore it. By turn 12 the soviets cut my rail line but by then the break in had been secured and newly freed forces secured the rail line after a few turns.
Center.
I went for a an approach via the SW corner of the pocket as this was where he was thinnest on the ground. Break inn was secure by turn 12.
6th army dug in and conducted supply drain attacks on all available stacks. He did not seriously attempt to reduce the Stalingrad pocket.
Far left wing.
Here he attacked in force, and pushed me back a little. Due to lack of pressure elsewhere I was able to reinforce with german forces. Along all of my left wing he repeatedly overstacked his units and I was able to effect disatrous losses on the russians almost every turn. Near the end he tried to attack towards Morozovsk but I put in a flanking attack with units freed from the battle at Stalingrad.
Final Score
VPs Loss Penalty
Sov 2 / 22
Germans 148 / 4
Conclusion.
Overstacking and putting too little pressure on the germans is not a good tactic for the russians. As for german tactics, all I can say is that the direct approach worked against this opponent.
