DITA - Please post your ongoing AAR here once the battle starts.
I advance the scout section and a few squads along the main route. Shame, but I stumble into enemy forces immediately and suffer 3 casulties to one squad which immediatly goes to "retreating" status.
The enemy is alot nearer than I thought, and I have little time to adjust/plan the advance.
The enemy is continuing their advance and I am suffering continuous light losses.
I manage to inflict a few casulties on the enemy.
I loose the scout section to enemy action and two of the other section are routed, which I cannot seem to rally!!
Thing are not looking good. Find attached the situation at the start of turn two
Further casulties on both sides (mainly ours :( )
Have managed to rally some supressed squads, but further squads are making a run for it.... :surprise:
Blimey....
Enemy presence is strong here... I have now positively located TWO enemy company HQs
In addition to this, I have stumbled across a BMP-R!!!! Interestingly, the flag ID for this vehicle is a Union Jack! Is this an indication that it is UN forces or, just a small glitch in the OOB?
meanwhile, casulties are still increasing, loosing a squad, but I inflicted more a few more casulties. I am starting to feel that I should make a fighting withdraw, as I feel the recon has achieved its objectives. Or at least move out of the village. My opponent admits that they have a strong presense here (that could be a bluff)
I am open to suggestions?

It is a glitch. I couldn't get them to display "Green" flags. I didn't want to say anything until you encountered them for Fog of War purposes.

Yep get out of there to preserve your force, no need to do anymore than you have, theres obviously a shitload there. Skirmisher doesnt usually engage in the type of misinformation i tend to spurt out, so i'de tend to take his word for it, try and 'innocently' ask him about the armour presence there, or anything else, he seems to like you :devious:
Thanks for the replies DD and Temujin.
I will start to withdraw. To quote Skirmisher from his latest email "...Each side was given 2 BMP-R's at the start of the game, just so happens they are assigned to the infantry companies operating in this area on our side." and goes onto say...."The cards were stacked against you in this battle,we have more combat power in the area."
I`ve go this information by innocently chatting( ) as we arranged a seperate email game.
On with the turn, and see what else I can get... ;)
Things have gone very badly,
Upon finishing the turn, the game went to the battle summary (if memory serves, lost 78 (and one mortar) against 38 men government forces.
i assume the force morale was low...I was sending all of my forces to the edge of the map. (the ones that would rally :) )
Looks like we`ve well and truely had our (my) butt kicked here :)
Yes, return to base for 're-education' comrade! :D

Commander "dita" hangs his head in shame and returns to base with his pride hurt and a shattered force :)

It appears that a recent ambush by a large Pro Government Force operating in Zone I was rather successful. After taking very heavy casualties the surviving Rebel units were able to evade the ambush and disappear into the heavily wooded forests of the zone.
Rebel losses were fairly heavy with 9th Rebel Infantry Company losing x4 Rebel Squad, x1 7.62 PKMS MMG, x1 61mm T63 Mortar, x1 Scouts and x1 RPG-7 TM.
Both Rebel and Pro Govermnment Forces are still active in the zone!

UN and rebel?
Looking at the results, this turned out rather bad.
For which I am sorry, :o but I advised to move there with a battalion.
That would have held, I believe.
Now they might think that they won it, so they would be sitting on their laurels, and they expect us to develop bunker mentality, and stick to Zone G. So I propose to do the opposite, and weaken G by releasing all armor (plus buy armor for the 204 points as well!), and attack their force (probably 2-3 coy with 2 BMP).
While they realize what we did, we could be back to G (next turn), or could be ascending them in O with full force. :D
I think this plan has the advantage of surprise and at least setting the balance of our forces right again.
I will write more when the intel report comes out. And I will volunteer to lead such a force, and take responsibility if it fails to achieve at least the modest goal of bringing balance back to our forces.
