I am currently toying with the idea of coming up with some new scenarios for POAII ive been trying out the scenario editor, and apart from C++ errors while creating a scenario which cant be helped, I think I can pump out some reasonoble scenarios.
I was just posting this thread to see if anyone was interested in having some new scenarios to play, despite the current Beta upgrade state of the game, or would you all prefer me to wait until the final 2.02 upgrade comes out?
I have to say though I dont build realistic maps, and people dont seem to like the idea of that from the poll I posted, so I will be sticking to maps that are already in circulation, another point is that all of my scenarios will be hypothetical, if this un-acceptable please say and I wont post any scenarios.
On another point, since I have never been involved with the military directly I cant get to grips with OOB's and stuff like that, so they will all be as close as I can possibly get to what I believe and what I have heard on these forums.
Please bare with me guys, if any of these points put people off enough that they wouldnt want to play my scenarios I will not proceed, I prefer honesty ;)
Thanks guys in advance of your replies. :D
There's nothing wrong with hypothetical maps or scenarios, and OOB's in the real world are often different from their paper counterparts for many reasons. I wouldn't let any of those things stop you from doing what you want to do. I would wait and see if the game ever does get fixed up though, because creating maps for this game are a bear, and it would be a shame to invest a lot of time and energy into a scenario that may not be playable, through no fault of your own...

I was thinking that myself to be honest, although I was quite impressed with the tester scenario I spent ages working on last night that was quite complex and I was really proud of, It involved AWACS, combat air patrols and all sorts of other goodies and units that I havent tried in the game before. Despite the fact the TF commander wouldnt have responsibility over this stuff, I found it quite enjoyable en-corperating these aspects into the battle. Perhaps there is a way I could get these units to act independantly?? the pre programmed strike missions against artillery units off map was a blast!! it made the scenario experience that bit more real, and off map units made much more of a contribution to the way the battle was fought when they were destroyed and suchlike.
I realise most POAII players wouldnt appreciate this, because it doesnt follow the command structure of the game, but I found it actually makes for quite an exciting and interesting scenario.
Thanks for your input Hub, I am pleased to see that you would not be bothered by these issues, i'll wait for a while till I get a couple more responses, before proceeding too much further.
Only trouble with that scenario I made, was that in my own excitement I forgot to save it as a scenario, and realised this fact in turn 5, so I cant send this as an example.
Soon I will be looking at naval warfare, not sure what units are available for naval purposes, but ill check it out tonight.
Thanks again matey! :D
The main thing is that you seem to be enjoying yourself- that's more important than what people may think of what you do or don't do with the game. I wish I could be as enthusiastic about the game as you are- I waited years for it, and it's been a bust, from my POV. I've been working with several games, trying to find something I like and want to stick with, but most seem to have at least one major flaw that puts me off...maybe I'm too critical.

Yes I have to say im definatley enjoying myself with POA2, I can see the possibilities for scenarios is endless due to the number of things that are modelled in the game. Ive proved to myself with that scenario what POA2 is capable of, because ive managed to accept the fact it has errors and just work around them, they will be sorted out eventually, just got to enjoy what I can do with it for now!
I am nervous about posting a scenario, and have never done so before ever. I guess I think I wont be able to create something that people will enjoy or play again, so this will be a big task!!
I would'nt say you were too critical, its all a matter of taste, besides strategy game makers look to critics to improve their games.

If you got a scenerio post it. I would very much like to try it and then I will also have someone to ask questions about it to. And once we get some of the errors identified and learn how to work around them (And hopefully get them fixed) then you will have a hard time coming on these boards without producing more for us :D

Well if thats the view on the matter, then you wont find a shortage of scenarios coming from me in the near future, we just need some good map creators producing more maps, as I said before I am not very good at map creation and I havent got the patience ( plus I dont have ADC2 ).
I will be looking at creating a wider spectrum of battle involving air units which contribute to the battle without actually flying over the battleground.
Can anyone tell me if there are any units which launch cruise missiles??
By all means craft away! The more scenarios the better. I'd be happy to play anything you post hypothetical or not.
