yes and you don't have to be in the vicinity of them.

This is how pirates make money. They will warp scramble and web you then demand cash.

To transfer ISK, use your address book to find the character and then, via a right click context menu, transfer the ISK to them.

the piracy bit? yup, but only in .4 or lower sectors.

Was it just one pirate or a gang of them? I take it you were alone at the time?

Yeah I was alone in Faswiba with a Destroyer. The Destroyer has 8 turret hard points and I was running 6 guns and 2 salvagers to maximize my profits while ratting.

What I would do is fight the rats, then repair and salvage, rinse, repeat etc. During one of my salvage & repair breaks a ship came up to me, warp scrambled me, and then demanded 1 million isk. I tried to shoot back but I wasn't making a dent in her shields and I wasn't going to pay so I scuttled the ship.
