This is an excellent, engrossing game system combining Strategic and tactical warfare. It is not hard to learn, even for Tiller vets, such as myself. It shines strategically, but the tactical battle system is not up to HPS standards.
Unfortunately there are flaws to the recruitment logic, which make the Americans too strong, and allow too many units to be placed in the wrong places. (Thousands of NC, SC and GA militia can appear in Portland, Maine.) The reinforcement logic ties Burgoyne and the Brunswickers to Quebec in 1776, unless as Brit you let the AI take the place.
The scenario editor is weak, compared to any HPS equivalent and there is no way to effectively edit oobs.
I hope they keep updating it and take the humble advice I've started offering on the Matrix forum.

There are two games on this topic out at the about same time. I found I greatly preferred Birth of America. Its a predecessor to Amer Civ War and Nap Campaigns from Ageod.

Its been long enough now that I kinda forget the reasons, but I found For Liberty! to be pretty weak. I think I played it a couple of times and uninstalled.

The supply logic ia also flawed in For Liberty! I've gotten into BoA and find it better, also. BoA is much more moddable; as a start, I've given the German troops blue coats.
