View Full Version : Poll: How did you fare with Operation Sand Castle (KB)?
I'm wondering how people did on my variation of DP's Operation Sand Castle, or for that matter if anybody played it at all. Feedback is the key to authoring better scenarios for your enjoyment!
All comments, corrections, and criticism welcome.
Thanks,
--- Kevin
Hey KB,
I've tried starting several times (including earlier today), but haven't been able to get it going. I've just been too busy. One of these days I'm going to have at it though. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Take care,
Brian

it took me a couple of tries, but I think a lot of that had to do with constant interruptions by the Nagmeister (aka my fiancee).
female monthly cycles give a whole defintion to the fog of war...ever try an assault to breech operation while a shoes flying at your head?
anyhoo, I got used to the KB DBs when you redid all the old scns :) - Snadcastle was just an extension of that :)

Do you mean that you're having technical difficulties?

I’m one of the “haven't won yet but I'll keep plugging”crowd.
What I would like to ask you - now that part of the Warfare HQ is still unavailable for downloads have you updated your Custom Database and if so any chance you can send it off to me.

Yes, I noticed that it has been down for some time.
Luckily, due to its size I host it elsewhere. The archive post is just a placeholder for the link. You can always download the latest version of my database at:

I actually just updated it today with new vehicles, the USMC LAV-25 family. I also fixed some typos in the soft-vehicle side pKs. (Copy/paste can be a two-edged sword...)

What do I need, precisely, to play this scenario? I assume I need your database? If so, which version of it and how can I tell one version from another?

You need, of course, the scenario files. You also need the kbDataModern database. The map is a "built-in" to ATF.
The only way to get an idea of the DB version is to look at the file timestamps; the kbDataModern.veh file is the best one since it is the one that is changed every time. That timestamp should be later than the scenario files' timestamps. In general, the more recent, the better.
When in doubt, it is best to simply download and reinstall the DB again. It should never break anything to update (with the one-time exception of when I reorganized a while back to be compatible with database1), and later versions should only improve the scenario, if they affect it at all.

No, no. I just keep starting it up and thinking about my plan when something else comes up and I have to shut it down. It loads up find.
Thanks for asking though.
