View Full Version : Anzio Game
Telemar.....i hear your developing an Anzio game? how is it coming??
inquiring minds want to know. :smoke:
Let me second that. Sounds really interesting. What sort of scale is it using?
Yes, there is an Anzio scenario and its under development currently. I would say it's 90% done, but my time has been very limited over the last weeks, so progress is coming slowly. Scale is 1km/hex (it needs a special equipment file for adjusted artillery ranges and some special equipment) with companies/battalions as basic units/formations. Turn length is 6 hours and scenario length will be 40*-120 turns with a possibility for an earlier (sudden death) end.
*players can agree upon an earlier end ("accept stalemate"-option)
What about a screenie preview?:smoke:
It's pre-dawn, January 24th (Turn 9, german side) - elements of 3rd, 29th and 15th PzGren Divs are stemming the advance of the British 1st Inf Div along the Via Anziate while Kampfgruppe Gericke (4.FJ Div) holds the western flank against US 504th Para Regt. Meanwhile the Rangers try to sneak in through the wide open backdoor..

Rather unrelated question--I love the elegant small fonts on that screenshot. How do I get them? :)

Thanks, Stefan. Looks good! I didn't realize TOAW was quite so customizable. :)
Only how do I get rid of the text in the menus all being golden now? :shy:

Let's hear what the Master has to say:
Here's a breakdown of the new font file.
If you mess things up to bad, delte the font file, and 3.2.x will recreate it.
Colors are the RGB colors, do a google for RGB Color and you'll find a lot of information. There are even color wheels out there that will let you pick a color and it will give you the values. Paint, for example, allows you to pick custom colors, for example white is 255 Red 255 Greed 255 Blue. To translate this, you can pull up calculator, switch it into scientific mode, and type in 255 for Red, then click hex. It will show FF. Click on Decimal and enter the next number for Green, then repeat for Blue. Add oxto the front, and string them together with a 0x in front to get 0xffffff (RGB)
Background is the color used if you're doing High Contrast. Red is only used in the credits for one person
[Colors]
Background=0x5F5F5F
Gold=0xFFD700
Red=0xFF0000
Silver=0xFFFFFF
There are currently 4 fonts allowed. Document is used in the initial scenario briefing screen, Objectives are used for objectives, small for many places like the status line which don't have much room, and medium for anything else.
[SmallFont]
[MediumFont]
[ObjectiveFont]
[DocumentFont]
Fonts are the basic characters. THere are also a lot of 'free fonts. Be careful, Word Perfect installs a set, Office installs a set, and other programs probably do too. Just because it's on your computer doesn't mean that it's on everyone's. They're also copyrighted, although some freeware ones are available, so they can't be freely traded.
;windowsFont toggles whether to use the windows font or the bitmapped font.
windowsFont=Y
;Outline will outline the character in Black (Great for objectives)
Outline=N
;Background will braw an 'Outline' one pixel below and to the right of the character to make it more readable.
Background=Y
;Spacing is extra pixes between characters required for some fonts to look better
Spacing=0
;Weight indicates how 'thick' the font is. 400 is fnormal, 700 is bold, 900 is very bold
Weight=700
;size if the font size
Size=10
;font is the font
Font=Arial
Telemar;
Are 'objectives' the same as 'placenames on the map', or can these be two different things?
I'd dearly love to be able to pick out National Capitals (or similar items of high VP value) from the everyday placenames such as rivers, regional and city names of no particular VP value.
Perferably by using different font 'colors'.....but font type or size would do in a pinch, eh?

The objective font is for the objective values only. Place names are displayed by the Medium Font. But for your purpose, why not to write national capitals with capital (:clown:) letters and leaving a space between each letter. That would do it for me.
Our problem is that it's not really 'national capitals' but county seats, there's a gazillion of them on a very large map.
When one uses a pulled out view they disappear into the clutter, something that being able to use a different color on thier names would tend remedy.
Items in question are the names with an asterisk. It is to be noted that this is isn't EVEN most of the map, and this view isn't fully 'pulled out'........the situation becomes considerably worse on the next expansion of view, eh?
Oh well, thanks, anyway! And sorry for hi-jacking the thread, LOL!

Let's hear what the Master has to say:
So I just say "gold" is defined as WHITE (FFFFFF). :surprise:
It really works! Thanks. I like that look. :)
