View Full Version : Waterloo Tourney
Gents,
I've received 13 replies so far for the Waterloo tourney. I'll give it another day or so before moving on with the launch. I'll step in if an extra player is needed to even things out.

I am interested in joining the Waterloo tourney. How will the tournament be setup?
It will be 3 rounds of "mirrored" games. Games do not have to be played simultaneously either, as most of use don't need to add two new games to our plates.
I do random assignments in the first round, then for the last two rounds pairings are done by standings...so the top two players play each other and so on down the line.
You need to join the ladder to be able to participate...you can do that here:
http://www.gamesquad.com/forums/wfhq-ladder-join.php
Once done I'll get you added in. I'll post further updates to the forum as well as send notes to the participants by e-mail.
Tourney page is up:

Waiting on a few more guys to join the ladder, etc.
Not long now.

Looking forward to it! Thanks for setting this up, Rich!
I will play. Sounds like fun.
Ok guys, the initial pairings are up and we're ready to roll. I'll be sending out a detailed e-mail here in just a few minutes.
Here's the optional rules that should be used for all games:

Any questions? Post here or drop me an e-mail.
Rich,
Have sent email this morning.
Sellick
Hi Sellick...can you please join the Nap ladder? See the "Ladders" link towards the top right of this page...click it, and the second item on the list is "Join/Leave Ladder". Select the nap one & once I see it I'll get you added in.

If it's not too late, count me in !
Just got a note from my NWC CO.
John
Rich,
Go ahead and put John (Tomato Frite) in my slot. I just got word, my work schedule is about to go crazy wild.

Good luck with the tournament. I will not play any Nappy games that do not use my oob/pdt ideas :-)
Guess you won't be playing to many Nap games then...sorry to hear that.

FM WarB...what are the key differences with your changes?
Pairings have been updated and notices sent...had to make changes to some pairings due to Al's dropping. If in doubt of who you should be playing check the tourney page.
Hi Rich -
Thought i was signed up, but looks like I missed out. If you need an alternate for this round or round 2/3 let me know.
Shots have been exchanged and the Allied Army held firm.
HHow long should we wait for some initial response from our opponent?
A few days I would think...they might be out of town or something. If you don't have a response by Tuesday let me know and I'll try to track them down.
Might want to send them a PM through the forum too...that might by-pass any spam filters...
Rich - may I make a suggestion for Rules for future tournies?
While I can sort of live with Rout Limiting OFF the No Opportunity Fire Against Skirmishers should be ON.
That way when you move a Leader onto a hex you dont draw fire.
I find that the rule cuts down on alot of unhistorical shooting if its ON.
If it possible
please
CMI
Let me make sure all matches are started Christian before I plug you in...will be a couple of days.
Rich, had a question, what does the "edit score" mean? On the Tourney match-ups page. Thanks, Bill

It is for the tourney directors to record the points you earn for each game.
Thanks for explaining it Mark.
Hi Rich -

Hi Mike - I missed this post...I'm not plugged in, so if you want to play you and I can pair up for the first round...still plenty of time for that...let me know!
The first two game reports are in - 1 Major French Victory & 1 Major Allied Victory
Seems like a good start to me! :D
Phil Powers and I have completed our matches. :smoke:
10 of 26 matches have been reported as of tonight.
Nice to see a mix of results as well...appears to be a decent choice for a tourney scenario.
Haven't seen any new end games come in lately...you guys still moving along?

We plod along :)
Rich,
I very much regret that, due to various circumstances that have occurred, I have to withdraw from the Tourn.
I have notified my opponent.
Regards.
Ok Sellick, thanks for letting me know...I'll adjust accordingly.
Hi Rich,
Brickie and I have finished our first battle with a French Major Victory. :-)))
Now I have a question. Where and how will I report it?
I hope I hear from you
Christian
Hi Christian,
Here's instructions on how to report the games.
The central part to this site is the WARS system, which can be reached from the link towards the top right-hand corner of the forums. It will take you to this page:
http://www.gamesquad.com/forums/ladder.php
(http://www.gamesquad.com/forums/ladder.php)Then you select the ladder you want to report on, in this case Napoleonic Battles, which will take you here:
http://www.gamesquad.com/forums/ladder_rating.php?ld=9
(http://www.gamesquad.com/forums/ladder_rating.php?ld=9)In the center, at the top of the ladder listing, you will see the link to "Submit a game report", select it.
http://www.gamesquad.com/forums/wfhq-ld-step1.php?lk=0.83135175130456&ladnum=17&sub=1
(http://www.gamesquad.com/forums/wfhq-ld-step1.php?lk=0.83135175130456&ladnum=17&sub=1)On this new page you need to select the proper scenario, in this case "034.The_Ridge_v3 " - then the number of turns, select your opponent, and make sure to select the box that says "Was this a SZO tournament scenario? setting it to yes, that way it will interface with the tournament page. You can then rate it if you wish, then click the "Go to step 2" button on the bottom left.
On this last page you set your side and the victory level, but also make sure and select the match from the drop down list on item 3, so the system gets properly updated.
And that's it...do one for each game and all the pages will be updated automatically.
Hi Rich,
that's what I have tried.
But I am not able to make step 2
I get this message
"Invalid Scenario. Press the back button and select a scenario from the list that appears. 034.THE_RIDGE_V3.SCN"
How could I select the scenario?
I have tried to copy "034.THE_RIDGE_V3.SCN" in it.
or is their a bottom?
by
Christian
If you type just the 034 and wait a second the listing should appear.
Rich - I just conceded my games to Art Ozols.
I didnt enjoy the options we were forced to use. I prefer that the players decided on their own.
I wont play in future tournies if its going to be mandated which ones you pick.
Suffice to say with Rout Limiting Off its just not much fun. Routed units all over the place and a compact map to boot.
Thanks for hosting this nonetheless and sorry for being so slow. Art had a ton of things to do with NASCAR in Vegas and I have been hunting work and doing a ton of other things as well.
10 games left outstanding guys...lets wrap 'em up asap.
A mailing has gone out to everyone still considered "active" in the tourney as far as I know...please respond asap, or let me know if you did not get it.
Ok, we're coming to a close nicely now...only 4 matches outstanding as of this morning!
Last two game reports are in...I have 16 people who have said they wish to continue in the tourney...if you have not specifically told me so and you do want to continue let me know asap! I'll be getting the round two pairings put together real soon.
Round 2 has begun and the mailing has just been sent to all active participants. Please let me know if you don't get it.
We've had our first end game report from round 2 come in...how are the rest of you guys doing?

Jeff and I are moving right along. Probably won't have any troops left by the end of either game at the rate we're killing them off.

both Of our(Jim Hall) games are very similar-general melee all over. Very untidy :D

We are a 1/3 of the way through on both games
My first game is about half way or so...so we're moving along slowly but surely.
Gentlemen
Both our games are at the mid 20 turn stage and "Bloody Affairs" but VERY good scn.:devious:
HI, I'm interested as well !

Thanks for your interest, but we're all full this one...will let you know if a slot opens up though.
John and I just completed our 1st game of round 2...how are the rest of you doing?

Moving along, about half-way through in both. My opponent seems to be busy with real life, but we're moving along steadily, yet somewhat slow.
