I have developed a hankerin' for some sci-fi adventuring after watching a good episode of Cowboy BeBop. :D I am tempted to revisit EVE. Should I renew my subscription? How good is the new expansion?

Talk me into it - I double-dog dare ya! ;)

I voted yes because you mentioned Cowboy Bebop!!! I do really want to try this game, and now that i have no subs to any MMO's, maybe now's the time to do that!!

In a fit of boredom, I re-uped last night and am currently working through the tutorial again (it is a must as it gives you a nice amount of money to get you started). I've said it before and I'll say it again: EVE is one of the most atmospheric sci-fi games ever. Everything looks and sounds just so to convince you that you are adventuring amongst the stars.

If you haven't tried it before, definitely do the two-week free trial. That will give you plenty of time to get a feel for the game. The only reason I am hesistant about subscribing to EVE is because I am a on/off type of player. When it comes to games, I go through periods of intense interest and then I will suddenly move on to a different game. However, with EVE, I have heard that it is relatively easy to jump in and out of a subscription, so that might keep me coming back (you can buy time in one month increments at $14.95 a month).

I really need to try this one. But I'm afraid I may never be able to quit.

I'm modeling Tashiro on Han Solo: Good with weapons, stealth, EWarfare, and propulsion systems. Building customized ships with extra cargo modules.

It's gonna take a while before I will venture out into the wilds.

The one facet I like is that your character continues to develop even while you are logged off. Example: You begin to train a skill that will take a long time (Days or Weeks) just before you log off. When you log back on you can stop that development and focus on something shorter. You don't lose training time when you shift your focus. Next time you're about to log off, switch to the long-range skill and you might be done when you pop back on.
Very cool facet.

Join us....<insert zombie moan here>:)

When I have enough money, I would like to make a Gamesquad corporation in the game. Corps are just like clans. Unfortunately, it takes over 1 million credits to incorporate. And then there are all sorts of ancilliary expenses as well (renting an office, salaries for the top officers, etc.). :OHNO:

I've got a way to go yet for that kind of cash....

Yeah, that was one of the things I mentioned in my review (http://www.gamesquad.com/index.php?option=com_articles&id=8&aid=151)that I liked about the game. You get value even when not playing.

BTW: how are you making money? Like I said in another thread, I am doing the trader route. I check the market to see what products (usually trade goods) are available cheap and then looks for a place where I can double my money. Usually, this takes me into less than safe space (.4 sec or below), but I have had no problems so far. In fact, I even found a mission against some NPC pirates in one of these out of the way systems. It has earned me 20K plus salvage so far.

I'm thinking i will download the 14 day trial next week. Right now i dont have the time i want to spend with the game. I'm thinking of spending a few hours a day till the trial ends so i can have a good grasp of weather or not i'm going to stick with the game.

Damn it man, but that sounds interesting. I guess I'll try the game out in the next couple of days.

You're are pox on humanity, you know that?

My work is done here....;)

BTW: I already took the liberty of sending you an invite via your GS email account. :)

Ironically, I haven't played a single session of EVE today because I feel so lousy. Damn this cold. That's the real pox on humanity!

My first scratch came from a buddy who gave me 3Mill to start off with. I'm more of a fighter-type character and I'm hoping to develop into a smuggler.

The intro missions help gain you a lot in loot. I can't make any money at my current station since there's so much of the stuff floating around, but if I strike off into the great unknown I think I can make some loot off my livestock and frozen seeds.

Incidentally, getting your ship blown up while a noob helps with the cash flow. I lost a ship and got 11mil in insurance which netted me about 4mil in profit.

It's not a revenue stream I wish to expand on, but it helps. Just like that first hit of crack is free...:smoke:
