Despite having played this game for several years, I'm still not clear on where units reconstitute. The tdg site Jamian recommended is very good on how reconstituting units suck up equipment and become eligible to reconstitute, but doesn't go into much detail on where they reappear.
I think:
If a unit is set to 'fixed' reconstitution, it will always try to reappear at that named hex only (which is always its first objective hex)- if it's occupied, the unit simply sits in a queue until the hex becomes friendly again
If a unit is set to 'yes' reconstitution it will try to reappear...where? At its objective hexes, starting with the first but defaulting to the second if the first is occupied?
Or do they try to reappear at the Force Reconstitution Point, which is that large coloured letter 'R', only one of these each side per scenario?
I know that there are different rules for guerillas, and that units scheduled to reappear on map edges can shuffle a few hexes along if the intended hex is occupied, but I'm more interested in the underlying principles for standard combat units.
Appreciate it if anyone has the definitive answer to this. To be honest, I'm mainly intered in my Europe Aflame scenario: I don't want the Red Army OOB2 reconstituting in Paris because Stalingrad's occupied, or the Rumanians reappearing in Hamburg because that's where I've put the 'R'.
Thanks in advance.
