It was 11:00 A.M. when the First Division, I Corps arrived on the field to relieve Buford’s to Cavalry Brigades. Buford’s Division had been holding of the Confederates of Archer’s Brigade since early that morning and had been pushed from Herr’s Ridge all the way to the McPherson farm. The arrival of the infantry must have been welcome news to many of them.

The first brigade to arrive on the field was that of Brigadier General Lysander Cutler. His brigade was deployed so that it was bisected by a deep railroad cut, effectively cutting it in two. The three regiments to the north of the cut were deployed on a low rise known locally as Oak Ridge. The two regiments to the south, commanded by Cutler himself, deployed to the support of Calef’s battery of U.S. horse artillery positioned on a rise called McPherson’s Hill. Hall’s Maine battery of the I Corps artillery was also deployed to the hill but almost immediately lost a full section to enemy counter battery fire, with Calef losing two of his guns as well.

The Iron Brigade was next on the field and was deployed on Cutler’s right in the Herp’s Woods. The Brigade Guard and the 6th Wisconsin were held in reserve.

Game Comments: To be honest, I'm not quite happy with this update, but nothing much happened during the first turn aside from a massive Confederate bombardement. Also, three of the guns lost to enemy artillery were destroyed during the Confederate's second turn.

The attached pictures show the situation both at the beginning and end of the turn.
Next update tommorow afternoon.
