After the New Player Workshop games conclude, what do the vets suggest we newbies do next to continue up the TOAW learning curve?
What boards do you use (or avoid) for finding PBEM opponents?
What scenarios would you suggest the newbies start with?
Anyone interested in a 2WIN PBEM game using the "T3NPW" mods from the workshop last winter? :devious:

I would suggest any battle that you're familar with -don't worry about winning/losing - it's experience you're after!

I'd suggest 2WIN. I'd also suggest:
1) Master defense first. 2WIN as Germans is not a bad start. Or play a WWI scenario like Balkans 12 to have your eyes opened as to how warfare has evolved. Look at your Cavalry recce #s and use them.
2) You can't understand attack IMO until you have got defense. Once you see what you can do behind a trench you'll think multiple times before launching that 'Light' Brigade charge.
3) Find something manageable- time and HP-wise. You'll find some folks drop off the planet but don't be discouraged (most folks who drop out are Patton-esque and forget 1 & 2 above and don't understand the rounds system.). Keep going.
4) Read/study the tutorials. These were often written by folks who care about the game and wanted to give something back to it that they'd received as newbies themselves. If you can, return the favour too.
These ideas aside, find your period as suggested. WWI, WWII or ++? Then post anywhere. But look at ladders to get an idea of who plays what. Carry on soldier.
Volunteer for 'Playtesting' !!!
You can learn a LOT about playing (thru commentary with the designer) while helping the game overcome some of the normal stumbling blocks!
Should help both parties develop, eh?
Works for ME, LOL!
