UN Forces have abandoned Zones A, J and T during the 1st week of fighting between Pro-Government and Rebel Forces on the island. Zone A was quickly "liberated" by Rebel Forces where it has been reported they found some old equipment formerly safeguarded by the UN.
In Zone G, a massive ground assault by Rebel Forces against the UN compound there has resulted in the UN Forces withdrawing into the surrounding countryside.
Sporadic fighting between Rebel and Pro-Goverment Forces was reported in Zone N along the river.
The extent of casualties during recent fighting has not been released by the warring parties. It has been reported that both Pro-Govrenment and Rebel forces have little problem recuiting volunteers to fill the ranks of their fallen comrades.
The Secretary General of the UN has pledged additional forces to support the ones already on the island.
