View Full Version : Great War Opponent?
Anyone feel like crushing the Triple Entente (myself) in a game of "The Great War 1914 - 1918"? Failing that I'd be up for a game of Europe Aflame too...
Just for reference, to date I've only played solo (or against the PO in other scenarios), but other than bad naval and aircraft management I'm familiar with the game and how it works. In that light I can't promise to be a challenging opponent, but I've got next to no responsibilities for the near future beyond work (which, granted, does involve a lot of travel) so I should be able to keep up with anyone's schedule in terms of moves.

Both are good scenarios. Good luck with your future game!

In our multiplayer game - we need a French commander - a great way to learn tactics;)
@all: Full scenario names?
1914-1918 Piero's or McBrides?
@foggy: which scenario and who replaced?

Well, Nessin is probably refering to Pierro's, as the title of that is 'The Great War 1914-1918', where as Daniel's is 'The Great War 2.0".
Viri needs to be replaced in the multiplayer game of "The Great War 2.0".
While Entente/France wouldn't be my first choice, Dr. D's game is one of the few that lives on my HD, eh?
What turn and situation report would be useful, LOL!
Hi nessin. Well I've been having a hankering to play some WW1 games lately, and I would really like to have a go at Daniel's version as the central powers if you're still interested?
Raver:
Definitely interested, I wasn't aware (or, more likely, had forgotten) of the other WWI scenario. Feel free to start it up and I should have the rules down between now and the weekend.
@nessin and Raver:
If you ask nicely, you might get lucky and D.McBride might send you the 2.2 revision, his last work on this scenario......entirely up to him however...
Inquire at drmcb@colba.net , reference 'The Great War: an Operational/Strategic Study' ver. 2.2 ;
Certainly no promises on my part, but I offer this in an attempt to show him that people are still very interested in his work...;)
hey thanks kurt, I'll do just that. If I recall right this game as a lot of honour rules in it, so I'll need to have a good read over those. Nessin - it would pay you to have a look at the scenario before we begin as it is a huge game, and as I say, has lots of additional rules in it. If you're not put off, then you are the man for me! :D
Is anyone aware of whether there is a TOAW3 version of TGW?

Not in the sense of 'optimised for T3', no. Your better off with converting 2.2 yourself.
Raver:
I grabbed a copy as soon as I heard about it on this post. Been reading through the rules while I'm on travel (for work, not much else to do in the downtime at the hotel), and attempting to run through a turn or two solo for practice. I'm definitely interested, been dying to play a high level operational/strategic game in TOAW for months but never had the time to dedicate to a PBEM game. WWI scenarios are just icing on the cake.
Excellent! Very glad to hear it. I'm doing the same at my end. With any luck I could get to playing a turn this weekend too. I also sent an email to the designerto see if he'll let us try the latest version. I havent managed tgo find any version at all that has been converted to TOAW3 though???
Do it yourself, Raver!
Just open the .sce in the T3 editor and save.
Place in WW1 folder (as per norm), play!
No problems, eh?
OH, OK that sounds pretty easy. I reakon I could do that ;)
