View Full Version : Armour for sale!
I read in the paper the other day that the Finnish armed forces have sold over twenty old armoured vehicles in an auction. The top items were a StuG III, which went for about $260k, and an Ausf G (don't know what that is). There were also a couple of Comets, and over a dozen Charioteers. To hell with gnomes, that's the thing to have in the garden !
Oh wow that's pretty cool. If I had a spare $260k I would definately go in for a Stug
Ausf G is a variant designation. For example, there was a Panzer Ausf G and a Sturmgeschütz III Ausf G.
(If memory and quick research serves)

OK, then I get it: Ausf is short-hand for 'Ausführung', which would be 'mark' or 'model' in english.

Wow yeah... I'd like one:supper:
Excuse me from being stupid but what is a "Charioteer"?
Apparently a tank destroyer developed from the Cromwell Tank (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FV_4101_Charioteer). Didn't know about it before looking into Wikipedia.
AFAIK, those tanks were in crappy condition...some had no engines etc. because they were used as 'pillboxes' due to protect important areas. But I suppose they can all be fixed.

While true, they would still make a hella fine 'lawn gnome', :yummy:
