And who is the main Administrator/Moderator here?

Mr. Don Maddox would be the 'Supremo Forum Moderator' and owner.

The thought did cross my mind to stage a coup by getting Don Maddox to make me 'ForumProtektor' with unlimited sweeping powers and turn it into the best CM forum the world has ever seen that will last a thousand years, but I'm too lazy, and the vibes are not quite right anyway..
As for the Kampfgruppe forum, maybe I should take that over instead, can't remember having tried it before, don't even know where it is..
In the meantime I shall hover above the CM community like a Mothman ready to swoop at a time and place of my choosing..

Not at all mate, I'd never ban anybody.. :)
For example look at the names I'm being called in this Blitz thread -

by people who are so terrified of playing me that they're calling me every name under the sun in the hope i'll ban them from entering my forhcoming 'Brits v 21st Panzer' challenge series.
Not a chance.. ;)
As you see, I've posted telling them I want them to play and that they're not going to wriggle out of it by being banned, not even you Geordie..:)
Hey Gamesquad members and members from any other club in the CM community, you're all welcome too, keep an eye on the Blitz main forum for my imminent post announcing the challenge in a blaze of publicity..:)

PS - winner gets a 1/72nd metal model tank.. :)

I love all the squaking in the Blitz post about what is a fair game.

Fair is simple.....the challenger picks the parameters or the scenario and his opponent picks the side played! The challenger thus has every incentive to pick something balanced!

Conversely, you play the same game twice. In one game you are the Axis and in the other you are the Allies.

Its been an interesting time to watch you squirm POS. First you duck out of a decent challenge and then you call guys wimps and cluckers for not taking up your ridiculous challenge.

You are actually intending to play the same QB set up loads of times against various opponents, how very tedious and I think it also sums up you and your attitude to CM and others who enjoy playing it in general.

Ive never seen you ever answer a direct question and as to running a website, you have more chance of winning the lottery. No one is going to give you a position of power on any board who is in their right mind.

There are a few obvious facts when it comes to you and games

1. You only play limited parameters.

2. You have to know exactly what the other side has before you play.

3. Outside of the above you are distinctly mediocre and out of your depth.

And so your latest attention seeking ploy is to tout yourself as some sort of judge and jury by offering prizes for different challenges etc..... Prizes which mean about as much as those fake electronic medals you seem to care so much about.

Well I sussed your number a long time ago mate and your banning from WaW has turned out to be the best thing any CM site has done and others should take heed of.

So far from improving any website that you become involved with it tends to be the other way........

Play nicely, gentlemen! :horse:

Seeing how this is being made public, I'll throw in my 2 cents.

1) what's wrong with limited params? We each play what we like for the most part don't we?

2) I'm not sure what that means. For the games POS typically posts here, they are usually unrestricted picks if I recall correctly. That means neither side knows the other.

3) What's skill level got to do with it? Can't players of all skills enjoy challenging, and baiting, others?

As I've been saying ever since I started playing the CM demo 6 years ago, I'll play ANY game of CM, anytime, anywhere, PROVIDED it looks FUN and INTERESTING with a good balance of tanks and armour, no problem.. :)
But if they try to force a Combined Arms or infantry-heavy battle on me where there are hardly any tanks, I simply won't play it.
I mean, tanks were invented to make war more fun.. :)

And thats your choice matey and good for you too. So stop bleating about it. You have found a niche and you enjoy it, which is a good thing. Others dont enjoy that kind of game so let them have the respect in their choice to play blind historical games with surprises.

Each to their own I say, so every time you call an infantry heavy battle Gay you are only showing disdain for those who like that.

A little more toleration is called for by all of us I think.

Mick brings plenty of spice to the table and we all know his Type A personality. We know the type of games he likes and what his tactics are. He isn't going to change AND HE SHOULDN'T!

His hours of work to provide us all an education in the nuances of the game are invaluable. Ignore what you don't like and enjoy the rest is the best advice.

Now he's taking on all comers and is throwing in a nice trophy, out of pocket. Where is anyone else setting up such a competition. Take the challenge, you know what's coming, devise a way to defeat it.

Geordie
27 Sep 07, 12:57
Yep your right mate, I wont be taking the challenge though as I find these potted QB type games boring in the extreme, its not much different from the Fireflies Vs Tigers, or the one before that. SO the yawn factor is high for me personally. Besides Ive already wiped the floor with him in his Pripet QB, which again was incredibly similar.

Cheers

When Fragment crashed I was left in mid-air, then Randy at Blitz saw I was available and quickly swooped to invite me to join Blitz 6 months ago.
Since then I've made over 800 posts there,(mostly tac screenshots), and have donated the Pripet Trophy, the Pripet Mods Trophy, the Scenario Designers Trophy, The Pripet metal Tank Paperweight consolation Prize, the 'Brits v 21st Pz' metal Tank Paperweight Prize, and shall be putting up a CM Administrators Trophy at the end of the year.
I've also organised 3 Tourneys and Challenges (Pripet/ Fireflies v Tigers/ Brits v 21st Pz)

I could do much more at Blitz as my ideas have only scratched the surface, but because I'm only an ordinary member and therefore only have limited powers and authority..
The only solution would be to start my own CM club where I'm in complete command and could do things my way.. :)
For example I'd create a string of fast-moving little tourneys,,exciting subforums, quizzes, puzzles competitions, photo sections, video sections, special short knockout challenges and so on, and buy truckloads of trophies and medals.
People could stagger wearily home from work and college at the end of the day looking forward to logging into my forum knowing there'd always be something new going on there.. :)

However I know zilch about the techy side of forum-creating so I'm at a dead end, I'm a wargamer not a computer nerd.. ;)

An alternative solution would be for me to be offered the command of an existing forum, or else be made some kind of moderator there.
As I've said, I'm only an ordinary member at Blitz and therefore don't have enough authority or motivation to do more.
In fact when my Pripet Tourney's finished there in a few weeks I shall seriously ask myself whether I still want to hang at Blitz..

Poor Old Spike
27 Sep 07, 16:01
PS - Geordie and his East Euro masters at the new Fragment BANNED me a few months ago, and I think he's now realising what a huge goof he made as he sees me now strutting my stuff at Blitz instead of Fragment.. ;)
Live with it mate.. :)

For those who don't know,I was banned for being un-politically correct in their so-called 'free speech Saloon'..
I never appealed against my banning as I was glad to get out, but I left my 78 tac screenshots there as a farewell gift to my loyal supporters.. :)

Geordie
27 Sep 07, 17:55
Cheers for clearing that up POS, nice to know why you were banned from WaW. Is it 78 screenshots?

As I said before, all you have to do is ask and I will delete them all. Your choice.

As for regretting your leaving, thats subjective as although you did contribute quite a lot, your flip side was and remains a natural born Troll. Your idea of Forum behaviour is very different from mine. Some sites tolerate it, others dont.

You just pushed it too far for the site owner, which was nothing to do with me, but on consulting him and garnering his reasons, I had to agree with them. One person should not become the focus of a site, for negative reasons no matter what the positive contribution they may have made to it. Seems like the Blitz may just be struggling with this dilemma now. My friend randy will have to deal with that though.

Poor Old Spike
27 Sep 07, 21:48

Ha ha ha mate, you remind me of a girll called Kaye I used to know back in Leicester, she had a crush on a young clergyman at Oadby church but when he spurned her advances she went round the church with a sledgehammer to sort him out, but luckily for him he wasn't there so she smashed up the church instead and got arrested and fined.
After that, whenever the subject came up in conversation she'd say-"No, that wasn't me, it must have been some other Kaye", as if she'd convinced herself in her own mind that she really wasn't her.
Maybe shrinks have a term for it, "The Denial Complex" or some such... ;)

Nah mate I'm a wargamer not a computer geek and can't be bothered setting one up.
My best bet is simply to take one over or be made some kind of mod.
The problem with being just an ordinary member is that my trophies don't carry as much weight as they should.
In fact people sometimes say - "But what right and on what authority do you have to be judge and jury when deciding who to hand out awards to like the Scenario Designers Trophy?"
So as forum Commander or moderator I'd have that authority.. :)

I remember once in 1986 I won a trophy for the best mile and a half. It was a good trophy and I still got it. Awarded by the RAF no less, alas my wife wont have it on the mantelpiece as its far to big, but I do see it sometimes when Im in my shed.

I got some medals for going to sunny places too, but for some reason I dont really wear them, seems embarrassing really to talk about medals I got for really just doing my job. I think I will leave them all to my Son. Thats the trouble with awards and trophies I suppose, they are only as good as the group awarding them and are seen as such by your peers. i mean i got mine from the Queen and i dont want to brag about them so I understand what you mean by just doling them out wily nilly from you, I mean wheres the significance in that. No real achievement really.

So you think Koen winning the Designers Trophy wasn't a real achievement?
Or that Toni doesn't merit the Pripet Moderators Trophy?
And that Bert Blitzkrieg and Ed Vos don't deserve the metal tank paperweight prizes?
The whole CM community fully backed me when I awarded them.

Not at all. We were discussing the significance of an award. If the POS award is accepted then wheres the problem. None as far as I can see. Its just something that has to be taken for what it is, an award by an individual. Nothing wrong with that, well nothing I can see.

Its just like some bloke sending an award to Tom Cruise for being the worlds smallest actor compared to winning an Oscar I suppose.

As for the whole CM community, hmm thats subjective my friend.

Hey Geordie mate, I just heard that it was an Operation called 'Mobile Defence' that made you go ballistic at Blitz, claiming the other guy had played it many times before and that he therefore had an advantage..
If that's the same Op 'Mobile Defence' I played once, I might actually agree with you, because my oppo had also played it before, and I was suckered into it.
I was the defending Germans with Panthers, Tigers, Nashorns and stuff on a wide open map facing a massive Russian Tank armada, and to cut a long story short I inflicted massive losses on him in each of the battles, but he got a draw because he'd crawled a few infantry squads to my map edge in the final battle
He knew he'd get massive points for doing that, but I didn't know, nothing in the Brief warned me.
As a result I was knocked out of contention for the WPC ladder top spot at the end of last year..

PS -It put me off Ops for life..

Geordie
30 Sep 07, 15:41
That Mobile Defence Op is rather good though. Just not god enough to play 30 times, which I suspected was just for the points alone. They didnt agree and thought there was nothing wrong with it.

Poor Old Spike
30 Sep 07, 16:39
Incidentally that was the first and only Op I've ever played, AND I played it blind, serves me right..
That's why nowadays I never play any scenario blind, I always closely examine it in the editor first, and I tell the other guy to examine it too, it's the only way to go to ensure both players start on a level playing field..

For a thread that started out asking a simple question (remember what that was guys?) has devolved into a very sorry thread :toilet: that has generated the MOST replies, 60+, of any non-sticky thread in the last YEAR is pathetic. (and I've contributed to it! :paperbag:)

If you re-read it you will note the post that started the downward slope immediately. :hmmm:

Kerry, it is difficult to take a face value a question from a long time wargamer and poster here asking who owns this site. Even a newbie would go to the homepage and, after scrolling down past the ads, figure it out very quickly.

Still your key point is all too valid. On to an empty lot much trash has been thrown.

Hey 205 thanks for the invite early this year to join your FMJ club,I took you up on it and went there and posted a crop of tactical posts, but nobody answered or commented and I thought I'd wandered into a morgue by mistake, and not even a holy man like me could resurrect it.. ;)
By contrast, I began a 'Pothman Challenge' thread in Blitz 6 days ago and its been buzzing ever since, with an astounding 2000 views so far, such is the awesome magnetic pulling power of the POS name -

The bottom line is that Mick is simply an internet Troll. Some guys may not agree with this but if you look at his 'Modus Operandi' on any Forum and site he visits he carries out the same pattern of actions. I used to think it was funny and cuddly, but now its like an annoyning whiney child. Mick has stated that he is a 60 year old man and should really know better by now. This Trolling totally degrades any positive contribution to any site in my opinion.

In sum. Having a few screenshots and the occasional little medal model does not make up for his actions.

Therefore, I leave him to you guys at Gamesquad to put up with. I shall go to my little European site and get some peace as the WaW Bosses quickly realised just what a Troll he is and deleted him from the site. Anyone who wants some POS free discourse is more than welcome to pop in.

Cheers..........

I've stayed out of this for as long as I could bear it.. it is apparent to me that it is we Brits that are most irritated by POS's posting style, I guess other nationalities just find him 'quaint' or a loud-mouthed curiosity rather than a complete embarrassment?
Perhaps you could oblige me with the details of the site you mentioned Geordie? I will continue to visit this forum in the hope that The Purist returns and restarts his Sealion campaign but until then I fancy a change. (PS I'm ex-RAF if that helps get me in.. :hush ::p)

As a Christian patriotic right-winger it's only to be expected that I irritate the whining leftie heathen minority who are making a laughing stock of themselves. (And who says I'm 60 years old, huh, more leftie propaganda!)
Rest assured that the majority of CM players are with me and enjoy seeing me slap the whiners around..:)
For example I got another fan mail today (below).. :)

"thanks : )
yes it was all in good fun!
and yes there are a bunch of chickins out there.....speaking of chickins you had me ckackin up when you put up that pic of the hen house up on the fourm...gotta love it : )"

I assure you, it isn't just you Brits. I know of people from all sorts of nations that find him just as irritating as you do.

However, I think you chaps have a lock on the embarrassment part. The rest of us have no reason to be embarrassed by his antics, since he doesn't claim to be a countryman of ours. :D

If all you anti-POS whiners want to shut me up and embarrass me, there's an easy way to take the wind out of my sails, just meet me in combat on the field of honour and inflict defeat after defeat on me.. :)
Many have tried .. ;)
And the CM community is beginning to notice it's the whining leftie minority who are the ones most reluctant to take me on ..;)
I'm never short of opponents as there are always plenty of doods around who are glad to have a crack at POS, their Ratings about me at TPG say it all -

"As a player POS is top notch and his file return rate is amoungst the best I have encountered. .... an opponent that wont let you down......A great guy to learn tank tactics from with unsurpassed file return times (it is like he is an AI or something with him returning files any time of the night or day)......Excellent player, good guy and gets turns out quickly! Highly reccomended .......Great tactician, superb return rate and some really wonderful comments with them too... Well worth playing!.....Also a great teacher in helping you improve your own gameplay and a really good playtester......Interesting Tactician, good player, really great Banter...... got to give him a try...A very good tactical player, well worth playing against......"

PS - I see this 'Who's the boss' thread of mine has generated over 700 views, proving yet again that the name of POS has an unearthly pulling power and electrifies any forum where it appears.. ;)

You on crack mate?
If you mean Bush, he's kept America terror-free for 6 years and been voted into the White House TWICE, so the majority of the great American people must like him..:)
Hey you're not a whining leftie are you?
George is ok in my book, his quotes show his mettle -

"This is war. Somebody's gonna pay"
"Countries that harbor terrorists are as guilty as they are"
"Give us the terrorists or we'll come and get 'em"
"America will never seek a permission slip to defend herself"
"A soft line toward terror is not gonna happen on my watch"
"My job is to secure the homeland and thats exactly what i'm gonna do"
"We will not sit back and wait to be hit again"
"Iran must not be allowed to have nuclear weapons"

"Raise a banner on a bare hilltop,I have summoned my warriors to carry out my wrath..
Listen, a noise on the mountains, like that of a great multitude!
Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms, like nations massing together!
The Lord is mustering an army for war. They come from faraway lands,
from the ends of the heavens, the Lord and the weapons of his wrath,
to destroy the whole country.. and destroy the sinners within it." (Isaiah 13:2-9)

Play and win (h*** even make it to the finals in) one of Kerry's tournaments, or play a set of balanced mirrored games (not one of your unhistorical tank heavy, good weather & favorable terrain day games) against a quality opponent and win the match or two--otherwise shut your pie hole about how great you [allegedly] are. No one, except obviously you, wants to hear about it.

Spike, your poor memory is matched only by your poor reading skills. KG_Cloghaun challenged you to a fair set of mirrored game created by a trusted third party. All you would play is your usual tank heavy homer game. You wimped out. See the first of the two links in my post above. As reflected by one of the threads I posted, your ladder standing dropped dramatically when you agreed to play games other than those with your pet perimeters. See the second of the two links in my post above. That's when you left this site. Wasn't it for the third time or maybe the fourth?

PS - I see this 'Who's the boss' thread of mine has generated over 700 views, proving yet again that the name of POS has an unearthly pulling power and electrifies any forum where it appears.. ;)

Mate, I'm a tank commander because I like the way pretty orange fireballs come out of their guns when they go boom-boom, that's why tanks were invented to make war more fun..:)
So if somebody wants to neuter me by removing my tanks, I tell them 'no way hozay'..
I mean, when I play CM I like to rock n' roll but that just can't be done without tanks.

@
"People that hate him listen to his show longer than those who like him."
"Why?"
"To see what he'll say next."

Just switch "Stern" for "POS" and you'll know why this thread is getting so many views...

AND

I can just imagine Don Maddox's ego going thru the roof upon seeing the thread title, "Who's the boss?" then seeing the # of posts & views then reading the first 3 posts and thinking- "Wow these guys LOVE ME!!" :coolban:

Then the realization that the next 80 posts have nothing to do with him!!!! :censored:

Hmm that sounds familiar. They say the universe is cyclical, seems like he is too.

A couple of snippets from his current roost:

'I will accept any challenge except a challenge that does not fit my exact parameters.....

Er wait a minute, I will turn this around and create my own parameters in a cunningly devised Scenario I shall call - the same old QB!

A truly great CM player can turn his hand to anything. The supreme test would be to play everyone in a mirrored game (and not the same game, a different one for each opponent). Until then I remain convinced that it is all wind and bluster.

Without getting into any personal views, U.S. historians have consistently ranked him near the bottom or no better than in the lower tier of U.S. Presidents.
