Has anyone gotten Civ III (Gold) to work on Vista?
I installed it, but it failedto install (hung up on the last possible moment). I then unistalled it, which failed, and then moved it to the trash. I continuedto try to unistall and re-install and itcontinued to fail. So, I have been unable to get the game to recognize that it is no longer there. Any thoughts?

Civ III is a pretty old game and I suspect there is a DirectX conflict of some sort. Either that, or the installation wizard that came with the game is incompatible with Windows Vista.

I guess that really isn't of much help.

Not really, but I think you're right on the second one.
I ended up porting the files over from my desktop. Worked like a charm. Had similar problems with Battlefield 1942 and copied it over as well, and it too works now.
