View Full Version : Target Fire Modifiers
Do Units in Village, Château, behind walls, or Forest hex’s receive any type of defensive fire Modifier. Can't seem to find that in help files.
Maybe its me, but one thing I find odd when I play my turns is how ineffective my skirmish unit fire results are during their Fire Phase. 80-100 guy’s firing 100m for 15 minutes at columns and squares, usually gets only 1-4 hits. Since these guys by average were suppose to be the better shots and were able move about freely, you would think hits would be a tad bit higher. Speaking for myself, I tend not to deploy them much because of their low hitting power. If they had more of a punch I believe they would make things more interesting.
My purpose for using skirmish fire is not a hope to inflict many casualties, but a desire to disorder formed enemy units.

Plus, there are lots of other tactical advantages to the little pests.
For instance, if you are on the defensive, if you have a full line of Skirms in front of your main, defenisve line, it's a problem the enemy will have to deal with before they can even come to grips with you.
See the Help page in User.hlp under Defensive fire - Target Fire Modifiers. Text reads:
· Target units may get a defensive benefit from the terrain of the hex they are in. The benefit is shown in the Terrain Info box of the Unit List. However, only Skirmisher units get a defensive benefit from Building or Rough terrain.
