Subject: Damage Report
Yesterday afternoon about 1500 local time, Thor fired a heavy barrage (i.e., a massive thunderstorm) lasting about 45 minutes acoss my whole sector. At the height of this bombardment, 4 heavy rounds in quick succession landed on my position here at Schloss Geschosskopf. All these rounds had zero flash-to-bang time.
The location of the first impact is unknown at present but is estimated to have been approximately 200m to the SSE. It caused me to open vision slit of my bunker (i.e., opened my window blinds). As I was doing so, the second round struck a tree approximately 150m to the S. I did not see this impact directly but discovered its location during crater analysis this morning. As soon as I had my vision slit fully open, I saw the third round strike another tree 20m SSW of my position. A few seconds later, the 4th round hit approximately 100m to the NNE, yet another treeburst. I did not see this hit, but discovered its location during crater analysis shortly after the bombardment ceased.
Of these rounds, the 4th struck a small pine which is not expected to survive. The others of known location hit tall redoaks which should return to full duty in a few years. Only the 3rd and closest round caused any damage to my position.
The redoak hit by this 3rd round was directly behind a small outbuilding, in front of which is the pole mounting the electric meter and main breakers for the whole position. The outbuilding also contains a telephone jack. All these systems were affected by the blast.
The EMP from the impact apparently entered the phone jack in the outbuilding. This is entire circuit was knocked out, including the phones in the ground floor of the Schloss itself. Repairs are expected to be completed tomorrow. Fortunately, the 2nd floor line in the Schloss remained in operation, although at reduced capacity for some time.
The EMP also tripped the most of the breakers in the outbuilding, especially those for the A/C and refrigerator holding the stock of beer. Fortunately, all these systems were undamaged, although the beer did get warm.
The remainder of the EMP entered the electrical line for the Schloss' water well via the breaker box on the meter pole. The pulse traveled to the wellhouse approximately 30m away behind the main Schloss, and blew out the 2x 30amp fuses for the main pump. In one of these, the copper fuse body itself was burned in half, not just the link inside. After doing this, the EMP tripped the main breaker for this circuit back at the meter pole, leaving the fuses for the pressure pump intact. The well is now back in full operation.
In addition, EMP aparently radiated out of the wellhouse, which is directly outside the master suite of the Schloss. The breaker for the master suite tripped, but no real damage was done. All in all, we were fortunate not to suffer worse damage from this bombardment.
It seems obvious, however, that these 4 rounds were part of a deliberate attack on the point target of Schloss Geschosskopf, using the general bombardment as cover. Crater analysis indicates that the battery that fired these rounds was located to the S of my position. I submit that either a spy has infiltrated my unit or the enemy has established an observation point in the vicinity. I am interrogating my personnel and conducting vigorous patrols in an effort preclude subsequent attacks of this type.
