It's hard to believe that this shouldn't have been asked before, but I did a search several years back and couldn't find a poll on this ... :shy:
What is your favorite era for TOAW gaming? With "completely hypothetical" I don't mean "what-if" situations from historical conflicts, but rather fictional wars that never took place at all.
Thanks for your replies. :)

NB I made it so that multiple options can be selected ... so in fact it should probably better read "what are your favorite eras ...".
World War I, then World War II and Cold War eventually. Obviously, scenario quality has to be factored in, whatever the era.

My favorite era is pretty obvious :smoke:

There was never a poll? Uh..
WWII and Cold War, actually there is only one WWI scenario i have tried until now and only vs the PO and that was Marc's TRttS.

TRttS.
Acronyms abound in the TOAW community ... what's it mean? :shy:
I played some WW1 last year ... Tannenberg, Mons, Serbia-Galicia. Even though TOAW was apparantely designed with more recent conflicts in mind, I found it represents this era's warfare quite well.

TRttS - The Race to the Sea. By Marc Martinez aka Nemo. Take a look here: http://www.the-strategist.net/RD/scenarii/display_scenario.php?Id=709 I think it's incooperated into TOAW III also. A great scenario - interesting battle.
Will have to play this one against a human opponent once.

Pretty much as Nemo...heavy on the quality issue, LOL, which can change the order depending on my present mood........

WW2 East Front
Yeah. I was thinking, should the poll prove that WW2 is the most popular era, I would then start a new poll asking which theater within that war. But I didn't want to mix up the two.

For this web site historical reasons I was interested in an hypothetical war between US/UK coalition and European Union. I took a great fun in writing 5 scenarios about a 2004 series of conflicts. ( look at the tournament subforum and there are some AAR about them in the AAR forum)
Three of those are presently used for the TOAW tournament
Some folks here are involved in it and I'm pretty sure they are appreciating them

We do, Jean-Luc, we do... though some of us might find the hypothetical background a bit too hypothetic, but the scenario is fun.

Sadly not for me..
I'm a WW2 boy as well, but really I enjoy anything up to and including WW2.
