Had I known you could not play WinSPMBT with wide screen I never would have wasted $55.00. Until issue is resolved I can’t play. Any new information comes out please email me.

Have a look at my avatar, I have been playing ASL for over 20 years. As a matter of fact I am playing a Red Barricades campaign game now.

To me it runs in wide screen mode. Try the following if you have 1280X800 screen:
1. Set the resolution to 2180X1024.
2. Set the mode to windowed mode.
3. Start playing :).

Artur.

I find pros and cons for both games. The biggest difference are the night rules in ASL are much more realistic as far as a board game goes. Where as the Steel Panthers answers is simply to reduce visibility.

Some how the game can work now but I don’t trust it with the wide screen.

I find pros and cons for both games.

I played SP to death when it forst came out. i also thought it was an answer to a problem i had with ASL: staying up on the rules because I was not playing it much and not havong many opponents. I thought SP was cool because the game handled all the mechanics and i could ocnentrate on tactics.

But now, after a few years of intensive ASL playing I find myself completely immersed in ASL when playing because of the complexity of the rules. I had a regular FtF gaming group and pay PBEM using VASL daily. Now I just can'r seem to "get into" computer gmes because i don't feel as invovled as I do when playing ASL. Also, I guess, being an old boardgamer, I enjoy pushing counters and having a map, etc.

You’re certainly more than welcome to come to Winnipeg the 3rd week of September. It’s our big tournament.

You’re right about ASL being a game of rules. Most people who play only play ASL. Steel Panthers is filler for me.

I wish Steel Panthers could do the following:

A better vehicle for making night scenarios more fun (realistic). Like startshells and restricted LOS. Simply reducing visibility doesn’t do it for me.
The routing of broken units something along the lines of ASL. I hate the fact that when a unit begins to route it will still route closer to an enemy unit.
Let the player decide on who attacks whom in close combat with more than one unit.
Lower moral with encirclement, like ASL.
I would also like to see hero’s created, battle hardening and berserk units. All the heat of battle stuff that ASL offers.
Don’t get me wrong SP has strong points, like not being able to see units until they are in your LOS.
I have a few regular opponents who make playing SP a lot of fun. To those guys I say thanks.

How does it do that?

SPWAW is just WWII, correct?

SPWAW is just WWII, correct? In the Editor you can set the weather to Clear, Light Rain, Light Snow, Heavy Snow, Sandstorms, etc. You can also set the Moon to Half Moon, No Moon, etc. You can event set the exact date and hour. I can't remember all of it off the top of my head but I know it can be done.

Yes, SPWAW is only WWII.

Jack Youre from Winnipeg? What a small world. We are supposed to be doing some business in the near future with a local tycoon who owns the port and a railroad in that area. I might be going there on a business trip with the person who shall be introducing us to him.
