I had a game in the early 90's that was a naval wargame that I loved.
But in the last ** years I can not remember the name of the game. I had put it down as Men of Iron, or Ships of Iron and Men of something or something like that, it was not Wooded ships and Iron men, at least I do not think it was. And I would like to find this game again even though it is old.

The game was about the time of WWI I think, But it may have been WWII.
I am just not sure.
In the game you had control of a fleet of battle ships that you could control, you could order the ships around like RJW , and then take control of the gun platform your self and aim and shoot the guns.
I know the name was close like I have written above but I am not sure on anything else, I know this does not help any lol, but I would be great full if any one here could help me find the name of this game again and if it can still be bought! Or if anyone here has it and would like to sell or trade for the game. It is a very long story why I want this game again, but it is one of a very few that I really loved and would like to have again.

There was a group of naval games that was called Great Naval battles of the North Atlantic and so on and so on. But it is not the game I am looking for the name of, I think it came out about 92 or 93. And that is about as close as I can get.
If anyone has the Great Naval Battles games I would like to find them also.
Thanks for any help that you can give.

I used to play Great Naval Battles of the North Atlantic and used to have all of the expansion disks for that game. I didn't really like any of the sequels to GNB1 because of the lack of a long campaign.

The game you are writing about, is it Task Force 1942 by MicroProse? It featured ship to ship battles in the south Pacific in 1942 and was published in 1992.

Task Force 1942 , so I am not remembering the name fully, that may be why I was having a hard time finding it. :) Thanks for the help on this. It was making me Mad trying to find out what game it was, and when I looked I seemed to always be following the wrong track.

I looked this game up and it is not the one I had. I still have this one and is one I am keeping .
But the Name was something like the Wooden ship and Iron men. Not that one ,but a name along those lines.
It has been a real struggle finding it again.

It has graghic like the early 1990`s but this game is totaly fascinating. According to the developers you can perform 75% of all maneuvers with their system. You can download the demo but youre only able to play WWI Austria Hungrya vs. France and Italy.

I have never played this one. But I have seen where it has been in progress for a while.

Not Age of Sail?

What time period did the game take place in?

The game was around WWI through WWII, it had BB's CA,s and ships along those lines. It had fleet action where you fought the other ships. But you mostly fought from a station on a given ship. I know this is not much data or much help.
I played the game quite a bit. and loved the game. But I just cannot remember the name or any real detail. I know there where not many games out of this type and did not think it would be that hard to find lol.
I may have got the game around 93 or 94 I am just not that sure. I bought the game from a computer game store in South East Missouri and that is why I can come up with a date.
Well if you have a idea it would be great.
I will keep trying to come up with more helpful data to give .

Thanks for helping on this matter also.

Another guess:

1991 Action Stations is a Naval Surface Combat Tactical Simulation covering the years 1922-1945. The game treats thoroughly in detail smoke, starshells, flares, searchlights, radar, shore batteries, stack gasses, aircraft recce and spotting, burning oil slicks, capsized hulks, weather and more. Ship classes go from PT Boats to Battleships and represent the U.S., German, British, Italian, French, Japanese, Dutch and Russian Fleets. Many "design only" classes included. In addition to 30 packaged scenarios, the build scenario feature allows you to generate an infinite number of new situations.

I'm guessing your talking about "Fighting Steel" SSI. I got a copy in a four pack with "Luftwaffe Commander" "Panzer Commander" and "Silent Hunter, commanders edition 1999 or 1998:smoke:

"Action Stations" was a lot of fun. Stone Age graphics but a lot of detail under the hood. And not only could you design scenarios, you could also design ships. Of course, with ships just being dots on the map, there were no graphic issues so it was merely data entry. I even figured out how to make it work for PBEM (it's only official MP mode was hotseat).

The only problem with the game was that it was really optimized for long-range gunnery actions and did not work very well at all in close-range and/or low-visibility situations. This was because the turns were 3 minutes long. It was nearly impossible to line up a torp shot with a PT boat because of this , and ships that were only visible for a few moments in the dark would still get hammered by a full 3 minutes worth of point-blank fire. So instead of taking 1 or 2 hits, they'd take like 50
