My match with Raver is currently up to July 12th, 1942 (Turn 159). The situation has been very fluid over the last year. War was declared against the Soviets on June 1st, 1941 (101). Many gains were made over the first couple of months and millions of Russians were captured. Leningrad fell July 13th, 1941 (107) which brought Sweden into the war.
The German offensive began to slow down in the late summer of 1941 as the Soviet defense began to grow stronger and the Axis supplies and replacements grew short. In mid-August the offensive toward Moscow was paused while the dual-headed offensive into the southern USSR continued from Iran and the Ukraine.
After a long fight through the mountains of Iran and Armenia Baku was seized on November 2nd, 1942. This brought Turkey into the war and a nice stockpile of advanced tanks into the German replacement pool. Soon the rest of the Caucases were quickly seized, with all the oilfields in Axis hands by December.
By the beginning of winter a combined offensive by Swedes and Finns had brought the Axis to within 125 km north of Moscow. German and Hungarian units were also within striking distance of Moscow from the south.
The Soviets focused their winter counterattack against the Swedes and Finns, driving them back 150 km and moving them far away from Moscow.
In the west the Allies landed in northern Spain which didn't seem to be much of a problem since there weren't any supply points in the area. However several units were shipped over each turn until there were enough to capture Madrid on January 4th, 1942 (132) and cause Spain to quit the war.
The Allies still didn't have a supply point so I rushed whatever units I could gather into Gibraltar. The German defenders fought hard but were forced to give up Gibraltar on February 8th, 1942 (137).
On the Eastern Front the end of winter on February 1st, 1942 (136) brought a renewed attack toward Moscow. The outer perimeter was easily forced and by the end of the first turn of Spring German units were only 50 km from Moscow.
A huge battle From mid-February to mid-April saw the Axis move ever closer to Moscow. Losses were very high on both sides but the capital fell on April 26th, 1942 (148).
At the same time as the battle for Moscow was finishing the Allies launched the D-Day invasion of Anzio. Since most of the Italian army was tied down in the Eastern Front little resistence was offered. Rome fell on May 3rd, 1942 (149) causing the Italians to surrender.
Currently the Germans are attempting to knock the Soviets out of the war by taking Stalingrad. The city is being approached from both the west and south but little hope for a quick victory here. In Italy and Spain the Allies have slowed down as the Axis lines here are becoming stronger.
