In the wake of the German advance to the Volga in the spring of 1942 regional Soviet Staff Officers convene at a resort village for a conference 40km from the frontlines. Also at the lakeside villa are some important prisoners: high ranking German Staff Officers being temporarily held in a prison behind the villa. Before they can be transferred to Moscow an operation to rescue them is attempted by the Fallschirmjager.
