View Full Version : Is there any way to limit naval unit range using the equipment editor?
A quick question for the equipment editor experts:
Is it possible to have the naval unit range be user defined or at least defined by the type of equipment selected (sort of like air units), i.e. a cruiser has a range of x range, destroyer y, a CVN has z etc. (where x, y,...z are << than the existing ranges).
Limiting the naval range of units and naval transport would go a long way towards solving some of the unrealistic naval aspects of TOAWIII.

Range is a parameter that can be changed in the equipment editor.
Haris,
Do you mean the range of the ship's weaponry, or the movement range of naval units?

I am sorry, I should have been more specific: I meant Movement range not weapons range.
By limiting (or better yet) controlling the movement range in the editor (number of hexes a naval unit can move per turn), a slightly more realistic naval model may be possible...that's of course until Ralph comes up with the real solution...
It would at least prevent entire fleets from going from one end of the map to the other in one turn without any opposition.
It is actually the naval transport that I want to limit the most so players can not launch seaborne invasions all over the place with no fear of enemy interception.

Since weapon range is already there for the generic ship classes I presume he means movement range.
I haven't found a way to restrict movement ( or other characteristics) in the BioEditor based on icon type.
But please enlighten me if there's a way...

hello,
in the editor, there is an option for Global movement Bias.
Selecting a lower percentage than 100 will alter the range of movement for all units.
However, this affects land and air units too so you will have to accomodate by supplimenting more transport for ground units. Air units will still have same range of attack...I think.... but movement will be less than the usual 100 MP's.
i think it only affects one side, the side that you are currently editing.
Iunno, can't remember...check it out.

also, I think somebody or a group of guys are currently working on a Bio-Editor for TOAW3 as there is one for CoW.
soon to be released is unknown by me.
