Dear TOAW players,

Far from Vichy propaganda about the French defeat of 1940, took time to read this book.
You will be astonished by the analysis made by this German Colonel of the German Army History department.

the full book reference is here

Karl-Heinz Frieser. The Blitzkrieg Legend: The 1940 Campaign in the West. With John T. Greenwood. Annapolis: Naval Institute Press, 2005. xx + 507 pp. Abbreviations, maps, photographs, notes, bibliography, index. $47.50 (cloth), ISBN 978-1-59114-294-2.

And if you are curious took time to have a look to the article I published on this website http://www.gamesquad.com/toaw/?p=60

I will publish soon a post about one of the French GQG fear in 1939 "the backdoor strategy".

My best Regards

Thanks JL. I enjoyed the link to your 2006 article ... although the "backdoor strategy" sounds rather ominous!

In the US military, that would fall under "Don't ask, don't tell"

Thanks - I'm reading Guderian's Panzer General at the moment and some useful info in there relating to the German approach to this action; including the daily orders. Intrigued about the 'backdoor strategy' - had the French an idea where the Germans would be coming from?
