View Full Version : Missing Dismounts
Ok...I'm in trouble again. All of my dismounts, though showing up in the unit hierarchy as being mounted in vehicles, do not show up on map in the game (or in the scenario editor for that matter). When I double click in the unit hierarchy view to find the icon, the box highlights an invisible icon.
The only thing I can think is that when I changed all the BMP's to BTR's to balance things out a little something went wrong. To make the change, I right clicked on the icon and edited the unit. The dismounts were loaded in the vehicles at the time. Is this the problem? And is there an easier way than deleting the current units and adding new ones to fix this?
I think once I can figure this out, I'll just about be ready to release the scenario.
Thanks,
Brian

In Scenario Developer, Just select the Unload Icon and then select the the units displaying this anamoly,...you should see the dismounts pop back onto the screen in the areas with the green selection outline. Go ahead ande reload them onto your vehicles, save the scenario, then open it again. Should fix it.
Your units are, indeed, loaded on the vehicles, and what you are seeing is a "placeholder" showing where the units were when they were loaded onto the vehicles.
Hope this helps!

I have indeed found it is best to keep dismounts unloaded until the last possible minute when designing scenarios. Mounted units apparently exist in some sort of "game purgatory" and don't always translate properly when transformations are made to the carrier unit. When dismounts are to be loaded, I keep them off to the side in nice neat "chalks" so they can be dragged to the carrier and loaded as just about the last thing I do. If you have to unload them again later, they're going to be scattered all over, so try not to do so.
Another thing that can wreak havoc is attempting to copy or cut and paste units that have mounted units.
Curt's technique will probably work in this case. If it doesn't, try selecting the dismounts in the View Heirarchy dialog for deletion. At least then the state will be consistent and you can add them back. Worst case, you may have to delete both the dismounts and their carriers to get back to a consistent state.

Thanks for the responses guys. I actually ended up just cutting then pasting right back. That appears to have worked ok.
