Great!
I lost C: partition probably due to a virus. Unfortunatly I had only a VERY old Ghost image of C:, so I had to rebuild the system from a very old stand (pre-DG). As I had the system back up and running, patched etc. I tried to start DG (located on D:) and of course it refused to load. I downloaded the game again and installed it into the same location and to my great pleasure DG started, updated to 1.51 and ran flawlessly. I already saw me writing one email to support begging for reactivating my licence, but it I was lucky, I guess.
Same goes for FS9, it only unpacked the scenery files again, then ran fine (it would have been a nightmare to bring this huge installation back up to date, I have tons of addons.
Il-2 46 was no problem as expected, it doesn`t write anything into registry.
Civ IV was dead though, had to reinstall, lost all savegames too
SH3 +GWX might work too, but my career is lost, as (like Civ) it saves into "My files" which was located on C: too. This is the downside.
The positive thing: The system is sleek and fast again, all the rubbish accumulated over the past years gone.
And yes, I`ll begin again to collect Ghost images on a regularly basis, no better, faster and easier way to re-instate a system.
