Should All German Afrika Units be Divisional in Size?
Yes or no, and reasons for and against.

Well...
It would all depend on how the Allies are built. If they are all Corps with 70-70% prof. , then a Div. strength Axis unit (even 80-90% prof.)may have a difficult time if sufficient support isn't available. As well, with the rules as they are now, not a huge amount of support isn't available for them in Africa so they must station units in ports and such. If they are in Corps formation, have their formation sizes small enough so splitting into 3 Divs. for EACH unit is possible. One thing that I really still don't like about the Russian front is the incapability of splitting a large amount of units in 3 divs... y'know what I mean.

No. Unless the entire Med theater is scaled down to divisional level forces. Otherwise, it will unfairly deny the Axis the benefits of scale (overruns, stiffened defense, etc.). Another argument against, would be that it would make the ant problem worse.
I would second Bdr's suggestion that they be left Korps sized units, and in formations lightly packed enough to breakdown. Eventually, one way or another, the Med will become a sideshow, and the units will either show up elsewhere, or be blocked from reappearing due to reinforcement hexes being occupied. If they show up elsewhere, then they should be consistently sized with the bulk of the rest of the units that both sides have. I do realize that this last point argues against making the entire Med Theater divisionally scaled.
I can't really think of any positive benefit to making them divisional level units in a game that is primarily corps sized.

Good 'nuff.

I have to agree with everything stated above, and for pretty much the same reasons. A further thought - the UK Africa formation needs to be broken down into two smaller formations. The LRDG cannot be airlifted unless you break it down, and doing so (iirc) fills all the formation slots, and then other units cannot be broken down. With the plethora of ports the Brits (potentially) have to garrison in NA, there needs to be a way from them to breakdown all sorts of units to do the job.
As a prime example, I recall having an inability to recombine one of the Brit spec. forces units (maybe 1/3rd died, and I didn't want to lose the airmobile ability?) But this left me unable to breakdown anything else in the Africa formation, which ended up stranding a corps or two, as they were too heavy to ship...
The situation for the Brits can be more dynamic than most; they might have none of Afirca to cover, they might have all of Africa to cover. There might be a large Brit presence in Scandinavia, or the opposite... The Brits must have the force flexibility to be able to respond appropriately to the situation with the forces at hand.

Good points. I'll put 'er on the 'TO DO' list. Which is getting rather long....
I received your mail and am viewing it soon, Shane.

You would of course have to down-scale the allies in the med as well, otherwise its gets a bit unfair. And I vote "no" because I think things would end up just with multiple stacks of 9 divisions rather than stacks of 2-3 corps.

Yep.
All this feedback is why I like to just throw out ideas without realyl having to think them through, as I know you guys will be able to spot the good and bad in them.
