Is it possible for (for example) SA-12 to guard other units when they are in their range?
I have a mot div and when I move this unit, it gets hit by enemy Interdictions, is it possible to make the SA-12(which sits around 40-60km away from my unit) to fire its missiles on enemy airplanes?
Thanks

If the SA-12 has a range of 40km-60km it will automatically fire in support, as long as it passes a communications check.

Thanks, but it seems it never fires a round? (because it's still untried, and supply/prof/readiness never changes) I have tried many times so I think it should pass the check for one or two times, and I use 1100 instead of 11 as its AA value, the result is still not satisfactory.
will keep trying.

..have you tried altering the shellweight and other factors ?..
..are you checking results on the attacking air-units ?..try using them on direct attack ..
..if it's any help, i got nowhere with ranged AA in BioEded ACOW..

I don't believe that there is a proficiency check, or any supply usage, for AA units when firing defensively at aircraft. The best way to check if the units are firing is to look at the toawlog and compare the AA strength against the units that are moving and being interdicted.
In other words, move the unit within range of an AA unit until it gets interdicted. Then move the same (or an identically equipped) unit outside the range of the AA unit until it gets interdicted. Make a note of which hexes you are attacked in, then look at the toawlog entries for each of the attacks.

Thanks a lot, I've never thought of that, will check.

If that fails to help, send me a .sal with instructions on how to reproduce the issue, and I'll take a look. It will keep me out of the code so we can release the patch.

Not that I don't want you to help Levelworm.
I'm glad to hear you're still working with the code this close to releasing a patch. I would rather see more improvements and have to wait a bit longer for a patch than see less improvements and wait six months for the next patch cycle to produce those improvments.

Personally, myself would like to get the 'beta' versions, playtest, and make my comments after same, eh?
We waited a hella long time for Ralph, we can wait some more for some of our favorite 'details' to be worked on....
Myself doesn't wan't Ralph to get any kind of 'burn-out' due to too many demands all a once, eh?
One needs remember how long it was from 1.04 (acow) to ToaW 3, !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good news, I checked the TOAWlog.txt file and do see lines like "XXXXXX contributes to anti-air fire", so this is not a bug at all :clown:
Again, thanks for all the help!

OK, how the heck does multi-quote work anyway:mad:
I'd rather finish this and get it out. The next one is going to be ambitious, I want to adress the fact that the turns aren't symetric, and that's very non-trivial.
I also want to participate in the training games:clown:. I suppose I should learn how to play sometime...

I don't know. Personalyl, I like the way this forum does everything compared to the MAtrix forum. Except, and this is a big one, the damned way this one handles quoting, I like Matrix's quote within a quote system much more. This one requires work.

HALELUJA!!!!  :vsign: :headbang: :ar15: :horse: :hurray: :salute: :toast:
The greatest news EVA!
In that case, squeez this one out, take some time off and then we'll be only too stoked to await the next upgrade (so much more than 'patches')!

Well, as soon as you get this patch out. :D
