The Decisive Action patch is now available for download at http://www.hpssims.com/Pages/updates/up_DA/up_DA.html The patch corrects several runtime errors that some of you have experienced plus it includes a new "maneuver warfare model". In previous versions of DA, whenever a unit made contact with a enemy unit (regardless of size or type) it stopped for the turn. In the new version, combat units will pause and fight through other units during the movement phase. This better represents the effects of maneuver warfare when an armored/mechanized formation gets into the enemy rear area.

So after a brief battle, can a unit "pass through" an enemy unit's footprint even if the enemy unit wasn't completely destroyed? Or does the enemy unit actually need to retreat prior to the friendly unit being able to move ahead?

Thanks for the update Jim. This sounds very interesting. This should also help do away (not that I have seen anyone do it yet) with the possibility for players to slow down a very powerful enemy unit by throwing a platoon of friendly trucks in its path.

After a brief engagement, the non-combat unit retreats away from the maneuvering combat unit. Often times, the maneuvering unit reengages the non-maneuver combat (ADA, artillery, CSS, etc) unit several times during a turn. Yes, this would prevent a player from using convoys or other non-maneuver combat units to "block" much larger maneuver combat units during a movement phase.

During several play tests, this seems to better replicate the traumatic effect of bold attacks, ala blitzkreig, in the enemy rear area.

This should make maneuver units which break into the enemy's rear a lot more potentially dangerous. I imagine that this may also cause people to think twice about committing every unit they have instead of maintaining a reserve force for rapid counter-attacks.

I like this.
