Guys this will be a good tourney. I have been involved with the playtesting of the Scenarios to be used and I can assure you there are some crackers out there.
As MR says, if you fancy something different sign up for this one, it promises to be a cracker.

I have played some of the KOTH-1 scenarios, not in the tournament but after the fact, and they were great. If this years scenarios are even close to as well designed, it will be a great tournament.

The tournament will use a 3 scenario per round format. The winner of those 3 scenarios by total point total will advance to the next round.
The sign up is going well.
Sign up now to play some specially designed scenarios for the tournament by some of CM's best scenario designers....
Fight with King Tigers! Or Canadian Infantry!
Will it be a JS-2's or a BT-2 that carries the day?
Can you close the Ring of Fire? Or will the Soviet player change history on you?
Come join in the tournament and see for yourself.
MR
BUT...my dance card is full...I believe it will be a good tourney. Thanks for inviting all here...I am sure someone will represent GS and bring home the prize.:hush: :smoke:

Your dance card isn't that full. The scenarios have designed as small actions with no more than 5 companies per side. ME's, attack defend...all styles of combat will be represented.
They will not be huge affairs that take lots of time to do. Besides...you GS guys probably can't hang against the TPG playtesting bunch and you'll be out after the first round anyway.....
At least that's what Mangus said....
Some of you have had a taste of the kinds of scenarios I put in tournaments here. While I have not done all of these scenarios the designers for this tournament have designed some top of the line battles!! Some are quite different and quite challenging. There is one that is a down and dirty slugfest involving Canadians...and we all know how it is to fight against Canadians!!
Good Hunting.

What do you call full?....16 games on the go and that is not full.....Ok tell you what I will see how many are close to finish. I will get back to you as soon as possible. :(  :devious: :p  :crosseye: :yummy:  :smoke:

16 games??? Is that all you can do? I normally finish that many on any given weekend....
Look...I'm helping to run a tournament here, I am starting up a tournament at TPG (this one), I am helping to put together Operational CM, I have my first 4 ladder games going, playtesting 6 scenarios for the KOTH2 tournament besides setting it up, and have 5 games I'm playing for FUN!!!
Where does that compare to 16 measly PBEM's????????????
ROFL!!!!!!
You Admin types are slackers!!!!

ROFL!!!! I have a life I'm looking for a future!!
I have a wife of 13 years. Raised 7 kids. Have 7 Grandkids. Had a career with a company for 23 years, started my own business, became a financial advisor (Stock Broker), am currently starting to be the sales/marketing director for an up and coming firm, and am currently almost finished with my first book, which I did historical research for five years on.
I put in about 40-60 hours on work/family a week and about that into CM.
CM wise: I joined CSDT when it was alive, after it died I started HSG, I help out a The Proving Grounds with playtesting and writing articles, I run the KOTH tournaments there, I help run a tournament here, started to get involved in Domination but need more history for my tastes, so instead have started up the Operational CM concept which is starting playtesting now. I normally play anywhere from 10-15 PBEM's on top of the playtesting, research and scenario design I do.
And how was your week?
Actually 16 PBEM's is more than enough to keep you busy with Admin duties. That's why no Admin duties for me on any sites. Closest I come to that is at TPG/TSDII where I just happen to be alot. But I don't have to report or fix anything and they are self governing sites. Thanks to you guys for doing what you do as well!!
Good Hunting.

KOTH2 setups have been sent out.
There are 2 groups of gamers. All of you are playing the same 3 scenarios. Each of the 2 different groups of gamers has it's own password that I assigned!!!
That way if we have a gamer drop we know what the password is to continue game play without interruption or having to start over.
If your did not receive a setup or password email and your name is on this list let me know.

After round 1 I may well have an option where those players can continue to play the tournament scenarios for the underdogs, those that have been knocked out of the tournament. If there is an interest.

We are sending file number 14 or so, in each of three separate games. That was more games than I thought it would be at any one time. Very fun so far with 1 CMAK and 2 CMBB games going and already engaged in 2 of 3 scenarios!

The judges have chosen some very interesting scenarios for round 1. They just all happened to be ME's going in. Round 2 will not be all ME's. For those that survive to find out.
The games should play fast. They are about medium build with large or smaller maps and medium to small OOB's.
Anyone still wanting to join as an alternate is welcome. There very likely will be a need for some alternates in the next round or two.
Good Luck and Good Hunting.

My battles with HUZAAR are a mixed bag. My small battle with CMBB is not going well. He has killed all my baby tanks while I have killed none of his! :surprise: I have called in an arty strike but the delay is 15 minutes!!! I command the Soviets here much to my dismay.
We are playing a large CMBB game called Ring of Fire and as the Soviet player, I command many T-34's and KV-1's. I've been doing quite well with these forces and only have one T-34 immobilized as my worse loss.
Our CMAK battle is an armor heavy affair that is pretty even at the moment. Most of the tanks/tank destroyer are getting into sight range of each other so the fireworks should occur momentarily. I'm German and he is Ami.

Without any spoilers, here is my field report.
Ring of Fire - My opponent played as Russians and gave no opportunity for Germans to attack with any advantage. Impossible to use my AT gun as an offensive weapon, and thus I had little to no chance of coming out on top with the tier II tanks in my attack force. I'm anxious to see the AAR's to learn how Germans are in fact winning this one. Total loss/concession.
Into the Valley - Didn't care at all for this scenario, mainly because the vineyards did strange things with the LOS. My opponent's play style was better suited to the terrain which allowed him to win easily as the Germans. Total loss/concession.
Champagne - The Axis has slightly better positioning to start, and I was able to leverage that into capturing the factory and holding off a couple infantry charges from the Reds. Still not over yet, but has more hope than the either of the last two.
My observation is that the scenarios are generally balanced, with the exception of Ring of Fire, which when the player skill is roughly even seems to greatly favor the Russians. It seems to be the least "meeting" of the 3 meeting engagement scenarios.
In any event, this is fortune of war, and I'm out after round 1. :paperbag: However, I would like to play on in the loser's bracket, just to experience more scenarios. :yummy:
Hmm when we were play testing them, Into the Valley mostly got the top score. I do agree a bit about Ring of Fire though. Hopefully all the scenarios together have been as fun to play in as I had testing them.....

Ring of Fire seems to be the scenario in round 1 that is generating the most comments about whether or not it's balanced. To date there have been 6 Soviet wins and 8 German wins. This seems pretty balanced to me. And if anything the balance seems to be a bit in favor of the Germans at the moment.
But there are still nine battles to be determined and that could show anything yet.
Thanks for competing in the tournament.
Good Hunting.
