DTG - 211200Z OCT 61
LOCATION - INDIAN OCEAN
DURATION - 1. 5 DAYS
SIDES - PAKISTAN , INDIA

On the 16 February 1961 India became an aircraft carrier nation with the commisioning of INS Vikrant.
She was brought to Bombay on November 3 1961 and later became part of the Indian Fleet as a fully operational carier.
Her intial airwing consited of British Hawker Seahawk fighter-bombers and French Alize anti-submarine aircraft.
Pakistan was outraged at the purchase of the Vikrant, and protested to the United Nations stating that this would alter the balance of power in the Indian Ocean Region into Indias favour. This protest fell on deaf ears so Pakistan decided to take action herself to ensure Vikrant would never reach Bombay.

INDIA

OVERVIEW

The Vikrant group has now entered the Indian Ocean and is now onroute to Bombay.
Over the past week Pakistani Naval Units have been conducting so called
Naval Exercises , we believe this is a prelude to an attack on the Vikrant.
We have sortied 3 Squadrons of warships including Delhi to escort her to Bombay, Maritime , Fighter and Strike aircraft have been assigned to her protection.
Vikrant and her group are on high alert with embarked aircraft at alert 5 ready for combat.

Hi Paul,

I played this scen from Indian side.

On start I noticed I'd have to transit around 500nm (quite a long way for an ANW scen and my slow PC - but it did manage).
I had enough time for the transit so set the Vikrant group to go south a while then East to the refpoint. I found I had to reset the formaltion patrols for Vikrant - the ships had very small PZs and therefore would not reach average cruise speed.

I used my planes for Recon, and quickly found two enemy groups, some neutral warships and some merchies. The two groups were sort of on iterceot course but after a few hours it was clear I'd pass them without intercept. I sent iin 4 attack planes with bombs and sank 2 ships from high altitude. The MG-s on the planes are extremely effective, much more so than the ships firing upward. One of the Destroyed squads excorting Vikrant then ran into a third group that I had not detected. I lost one FF to gunfire (at high compression) and then sunk the three ships with my guns and torps.

Although the Recon planes were overflying my escort groups; no Pakistani air attacks aterialised. Vikrant made it to the refpoint and triggered vicconds.

I did not see any obvious bugs (apart from the known one of MG fire from high alt). This scen is one of those many scens which can be well balanced for MP - but the AI does not have very good recon capabilities and the player has enough speed, searoom and time to avade the enemy squadrons. You can of course design it so the AI has a better chance but that is your choice. I'd recommend to try to build some more 'forced conflict' and 'late surprises' in the scen - given its fairly long.

Thanks for making the scen!

Seems somewhat moot since the scenario has already been released:
