Hi guys.

A new joint tournament is in the development stage. Originally conceived by the WaW and the Blitz it is now open to anyone from any site.

Simply have a look on the new forum designed specifically for it here

Combat Mission Global - Home (http://cmglobal.proboards59.com/index.cgi)

If Gamesquad is interests anyone just post away. Its still at the conception stage so you can definitely get in from the start.

This goes for any site, the KG too. We need guys with experience to help design it and make it work for the community.

Cheers

Oh and have your Commander put a free advertising blurb in there too.

Hey there Palantir...there can never be enough CM can there?

This is WAY Different than what you are used to seeing.

The operational game is THE GAME. Not the CM battles. The CM battles are used to resolve the operational game. The operational game isn't used as an elaborate method of generating QB's.

Each CM site is going to be invited to field a team. You can have as many members as you like on the team. The team will be responsible for finishing it's own battles. Sooooo, if a member drops out another team member finishes it.

The battles get finished. The tournaments will have a set number of battles to completion. Or an end of game time. So many days/weeks of fighting.

This is essentially CMC that seems dead in the water with teams instead of individuals. Time is wasting and CMC seems no closer now than it ever did to completion. I would like to do some operation CM BEFORE I die of old age.

This is our answer to it. This site has been put together to house the operations. That way NO ONE SITE has control. All sites and gamers are welcome.

The campaigns envisioned include, but are not restricted to Normany, Battle of the Bulge, Reichswald, Breakout, Sicily, Operation Battle Axe, Operation Venezia, Kharkov Spring 43, Kharkov Summer 43, Muis River Summer 43, Operation Bagration, Crete and any other operation that was fought that can get CM sites involved in the fighting.

If this interests you at all then come take a look. We will be back with the first one done in a couple of months. If any of you want a say in how it all goes then come and join in the planning.

Kerry...it is, by the way, good to see you back to your old self and posting again. Hope all is well with you and your family.

Good Hunting.

The trouble is there are only so many CM players, and time has proved that only the very best sites (and not all of them) survive the long haul..

After lurking here a year or so, feels like I finally decided to join while it's at the tail end of the normal ebb & flow here and for the series:OHNO: .

Hopefully, CMS might bring back some of the older hands that have burned out on CM right now and bring some more lurkers into the fold. Could be when I finally take the plunge into pbem & tourneys I'll get to see the behind the scene involvement still going on. The tourneys still seem active here.

Geordie,
The concept you guys have come up with seems preety good--hope it takes off and stays strong so when my time constraints ease up and my experiance w/CM gets better (right now the A.I would be a bigger challenge then my play would provide.) it will still be active.

Over at the WaW its thriving right now, new players are joining every day. You just have to come up with a new slant on things. The WaW offers a range of innovative new tools and Stats that are instantly at your fingertips. Just a couple of the reasons that attracted me to it.

I think the key is constantly moving the game to new levels. The idea of the multi-site Operational CM campaign is to get some participation and conversation going for all the CM sites, clans and clubs. Not just one or two.

Remember how excited you were when you first started playing the game? Well, that's what we want to bring back. Some of that competitive spirit!!

You remember the "Old Days"? Well, the idea is to make this next generation of CM gaming as good as or better than that.

While this is not an exclusively HSG project the group will figure prominently in the research and playtesting of the operational aspect of the game.

Think of how this will change the way you play CM. Think CMC....

How you won't want to lose 3 StuG's for a battle location in the middle of the steppe. How you would rather retreat than be blown off the map when the Russian Tank Battalion attacks your infantry battalion.

Think about a battle raging that neither side wants to give up on and you go into a SECOND PBEM round to resolve the battle in one location.

Think about how you have so many battles that your side can initiate. How the battles are happening in real time. There will be a normal 30 day resolution period for the PBEM's. If they aren't finished within 60 days the administrator will end the game. In the mean time, fighting is going all across the front.

To send out recon elements to actually have them see what the enemy has in any given location. Where his strength lies.

To have maps that don't change as you enter them from any of four directions. Each time you fight that location the map will be the same one it was the last time.

To have an unlimited number of players that can come and go as they need to. No more having tournaments falling apart when gamers have RL issues that take them out.

Think about that...and see if maybe you don't think this new CM site might not survive the test of fire!

Tank Fire!!

This is just a start on what can be done inter-site if we all get involved and start fighting with each other.

Good Hunting.

The first 26 maps have been scanned and sent out to the team.

There are probably at least that many more that can be scanned if the team thinks we need them.

Roughly 17 of these maps are topo maps.

Good Hunting.
