You people better not give up on this game again now that you've twisted my arm and I've broken down and purchased the damn thing! :D

I've really taken a liking to the game now that I can understand the interface. CPangracs' primer was simple, but straight forward and to the point. It did in a day what the manual couldn't do for over a year; teach me how to play the dang thing. I won't be leaving it anytime soon. (That is unless there is a DA2.)

Better not be a DA 2...at least for a while, or give people that just bought the old one a discount!;)

I think you're going to like it. It's simple, yet loaded with subtle detail. It's possible to make some really great battles with it. The more people we get playing it, the more fun and dynamic this community will become.:bounce:

Nice one NORAD, you wont regret purchasing DA, Its definatley something different to most wargames, because of its scale in the modern era, it really is a very refreshing game to play, im certainly not going to be putting it down, or stop being involved in the DA community.

Just lend it a bit of time to learn how to play thats all I can say :cheeky:

I wouldn't say that DA is a terribly difficult game to learn. I would say it is one of those games that is reasonably easy to learn but difficult to master. There is some serious planning that goes into each turn.

Now I should mention that the game will no doubt be a lot harder to learn for someone who has no experience with modern military matters. The tactics involved and the sheer amount of terminology and acronyms could be a bit of a challenge. If you have no concept what a BSB, FSB, BCT, or MRE are, then DA is going to be harder to learn. Perhaps I'll do a short article on this type of thing at some point. That could be helpful to players who don't know much about the modern military.

I have a lot of army FM's, and a great acronym dictionary I found on line that I copied as a txt file. When I first got BCT I had something of a learning curve regarding the terminology. I am better off now. I am sure if I have questions someone on the forums will help:D .

might I add if you come from a non-US military background the acronyms take getting used to. All the aussie training in the world don't help me :D

The US Department of Defense has an Acronym dictionary on-line but the one I ran across and copied was even better. If I can find that site again I will post it!

DA comes with 3 FM's which has many acronyms defined for you.
