ZONE N

10th Rebel Infantry Company
...x10 Rebel Squad
...x1 7.62 PKMS MMG
...x1 61mm T63 Mortar
...x1 Scouts
...x1 RPG-7 TM

Briefing: Due to unforseen circumstances, this unit missed their early morning departure time to head North and participate in the attack on Zone G. Finally getting started around noon they proceeded North along the main road eventually coming to the river crossing. Passing through a small village along the road, a local informant tells the Rebel Commander that Pro-Government forces are operating on the other side of the river. By midnight, the Rebel Forces are about 800 meters South of the bridge and it is here the the order is given for them to stop and send forward their Scouts.

Mission: Clear the road to the North of the bridge of any Pro-Government forces and continue the move North toward Zone G.

Just curious, what happens if they can't achieve that objective, if the opposition is too strong and they do not advance?

They are stuck in the Zone for this Operational Turn and can be given movement orders again for OP Turn 2. The mission is mainly to give the players on each team in the battle a goal to aim for. Success or failure will be used by me mostly to advance the storyline.

It looks like Katusa will command this battle for the Rebel Forces. Additional details will follow.

It looks like the Pro-Government player is having problems getting email to go theough to Katusa. Just a heads up, we might need to hand thi off to an alternate to get the battle completed.

Do we have an alternate ready to jump in?

For anyone who is interested ill give a breif detail of events.

Initial deployment saw the company along the road one movement away from the bridge. I mthen moved into position mainly on the left side of the road because there was a beach running nearly parallel to the road a few hexes away and was a perfect getaway point (we had rafts).

I deployed so that i could ambush the road soon after any troops came of the bridge from the northern side, the scouts and 2 squads from B platoon deployed on the right hand side of the road and tried to move forward to get a look at the enemies strength. they ran into an enemy scouting party and destroyed it, however in the next turn we were attacked by a platoon and several losses were taken by both sides, including the surrender of our scout team, luckily B platoon (which only consisted of 2 squads) was able to withdraw across the over side of the road.

Next contact came on the left side of the road as a platoon and support squad pushed fatally into C platoon, who were guarding the northern end of our deployment. At the time E platoon was crossing the river in rafts and to cover their movement i counter attacked the enemy mainly the support squad (it looked like a nice prize :devious: ) so using elements of C and B platoons i attacked and took a few losses but luckily this action caused the enemy to pull back around to our right side of the road and they could not get a line of site on our rafts.

The crossing went along smoothly we were able to destroy a pro gov mortar team still on the bridge(but that is a disputed action because the other team is claiming it was 'stuck' there), except for the fact that our mortar did not have a raft so i left 3 squads guarding the mortar as the rest of the company moved around on the northern side of the river towards the bridge to help them cross it, but this was now the 12th turn and end of the battle in this phase of the game.

At least this company will be available for a more important battle in the future.

Well, I am just sorry that I could not finish what I started... There was some computer-related problems, so I could not react in time.

No problem. That is why this time around I went with a team command format instead of having players assigned to command a specific unit like I have done in previous campaigns. That way when a player has PC or RL issues it is easier for another to step in. Also, makes it easier to schedule who will fight what battles as they come up. The biggest drawback to these campaigns is trying to keep them moving along.

OK, but I can only play now at my office. So no turns on weekends, I am afraid. Otherwise I can do 1 turn per day. I it is too slow, then I stay in reserve as long as I can set up my computer at home again. (I changed the video card recently, and since then SP is messed up.)

After bumping into each other in the middle of the night and a brief exchange of gunfire with Government Forces, the Rebel troops managed to bring the main part of their men to safey on the North side of the river.

Among the Rebel Force losses were the Scouts from 10th Rebel Infantry Company.

The few infantry casualties were immediately filled by eager local volunteers.

Both Rebel and Government Forces are still active in the zone!
