Every machine has a "popular" game thought to be it's best.

So the question is, on your platform of choice (that means anything that runs a game by the way), what is your machine's "best" game?

While I have a PC and could mention PC titles, really, right now my platform of amusement is my Nintendo DS. And I am going to pick Age of Empires: Age of Kings.

But I have only had exposure to a small list of titles.

Still, even though I bought the DS for an as yet unreleased Panzer Tactics, I am completely amused with playing Age of Empires: Age of Kings.

It plays easily, yet it plays indefinitely ie I don't expect to get bored any time soon. Granted, unlike some gamers, I don't play the thing daily till the battery runs out either hehe. It has a long list of maps, and options to play in battle mode, and it has several campaigns to challenge you at differing difficulties.
It has a lot of goodies you can unlock to get even more battles including new units and new maps. And every time you unlock a unit or map, you have adjusted all the variables to a point.
And of course you can play against others.
The AI player seems an alright challenge, but eventually I have found easy is the same as hard in some ways :)
I have stuck playing just my one favourite leader, but I assume the other ones have some neat aspects too.

Man, I just wish the more game makers would see, that turn based wargames (that's really what Age of Empires is) are very doable on a hand held. And if they actually made enough of them, we wargamers would surely flock to them (currently most wargamers seem to think only the PC can do a wargame right).

Anyway, your turn now guys. Rant on about you machine's "best" game.
Why did you pick it for nomination eh.

Ok, Halo 2 (XBox) rocked my world for awhile (campaign, not live), but the game the got the most replay was Dai Senryaku VII. (No hiding the grog in me  )

On the NES it was Nobunaga's Ambition. Sega was Sonic... On the 360 I went at Oblivion pretty hard until I beat it, but don't really touch the thing any longer. I enjoyed Kaloki X quite a bit.

I think Oblivion is the game i've spent the most time with on the 360, and Morrowind on the original Xbox. Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike is the game that mainly dominates my PS3/PS2 and various Romance of the Three Kingdoms games. My PC always has a copy of Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now and Rise of the Triad, i've played them both for countless hours over the last decade or so. Special mention for Doom, as i've owned it on more platforms and in more incarnations than any other game (Doom, Doom II, Ultimate Doom, Final Doom and Doom III on PC, Doom on the SNES, Doom on the Jaguar, Doom on the 32x, Doom on the Saturn, Final Doom on the PSX, Doom 64 on the N64, Doom on mobile, Doom RPG on mobile, Doom and Doom II on the GBA, and Doom on Xbox Live Arcade).

It's quite hard for me to say what my favourite game for the PS2 is. I have many favourites, those being; TimeSplitters 2, Gran Turismo 4, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3. Out of these I would probably say that both Metal Gear Solid games are my most favourite though as I am a huge MGS fan...

For PSP my favourites are; Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Metal Gear Ac!d 2, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. I must have spent god knows how many hours playing Metal Gear Ac!d 2 and my GTA: LCS gamesave has about 125 hours on the clock!

That's Metal Gear. ;)

I'm more of a Metal Gear fan than a GTA fan though. :D
