View Full Version : Torpedo Range???
I was just fighting a quick battle with the Mandzhur against a corvette and an auxilary and noticed that the Madzhar's 381 Whitehead torpedo had a range of 15531208 m which is really quite good. A 15000km range torpedo is nice but I just don't think that the target acquiring abilities of the time match this.
Has anyone else noticed any odd torpedo ranges? I just upgraded to v1.50.

Yes, I've noticed that too after 1.50.
Yep I just noticed it on Bogatyr. Another thing, all four of Bogatyr's midships torpedo tubes can now fire to either side. Last night she fired a salvo of four against a Maru, one of which actually hit. :rolleyes: I checked the info screen and all four midships tubes were reloading.
I wonder if this is an error or a correction?

That's a bug... Bogatyr had only 2 tubes AFAIK so having 4 in itself is a problem. Apparently something doubled everything about the correct tubes, both their number and their arcs.
Still, this brings up some interesting points to ponder...
For instance, it was usual for the submerged tubes firing on opposite sides of the hull to be contained in the same compartment or "flat". As such, they shared an ammo supply. Every torp in the "flat" could be fired on 1 side or the other, or in any combination in between. However, in DG, ammo is tracked by weapon, which means by tube in the case of torps. Thus, the torps for the port tube are dedicated to the port tube and can't be used by the starboard tube in the same room.
Yep, the latest patch seems to be causing this problem. I always thought those early torpedoes had too short ranges to be really useful...
Will there be a new patch anytime soon to fix the issues created by this last one?
Are torpedoes actually being fired at excessive ranges or are the range listings simply listed incorrectly? Has anyone seen in-game weird torpedo behavior?
Reason I am asking is that I'm leaning toward buying the game but want to know if the torpedo problem is a gameplay breaker?

It's just a display issue on an information screen - fixed in the 1.051 update under test right now. Actual ranges are not affected.
