I have experience with Tacops multiplayer game setup, and am trying to figure out how DA multiplyaer works. Can anyone offer info on how to set up a multiplayer scenario and game with DA 2.03?
I am wrting my Army Staff College research paper on commercial wargaming in support of military training and have just recently purchased DA. I have set up a multinational Corps (four maneuvre divs) level scenario based on a Canadian Army Staff College exercise (STALWART WARRIOR) and would like to set it up as a multiplayer game.

Well, Maurice, it is very easy to setup a multiplayer game. In fact, all you have to do is start any game in multiplayer as host, follow the instructions, and then have the caller start the game as multiplayer caller, log-on using your IP, and there you go! Of course, this is the easy answer for a LAN game, NOT an internet game, as there are some port issues to deal with.
As for creating your scenario, as long as you have a Red and Blue side, you can play multiplayer. The MAIN difference between DA and TacOps is that you can't "pin" certain units to a certain player. You essentially have to divvy-up units by saying "Okay, John,...you have all the manuever brigades, Tim, you have all the FA fires and Air assets,...and Tony, you run logistics.", or something to that effect.
Hope this helps.

Another idea is to create custom scenarios that use different color icons for each player. That would make it easy to keep track of who is in command of which unit.

Roger, thanks.
I will watching for the TCP/IP over-the-internet issue(s) closely so that I may run a test with someone. DA is a great game (tool). two weeks ago, eleven students from CGSC were up here in Canada to participate in our Corps level staff exercise, unfortunately, none of them seemed to be very familiar with DA. I still managed to set up a map, terrain, and multi-division scenario using the Help files. I was very impressed with the training and professional development potential in DA.
Please keep up the development.
Is there any intention of adding the capability of showing abbreviated unit names (callsigns) beside the icon when desired? (upon a mouse rollover?) the way that Tacops (TO) does? It would be more convenient than having to click the icon.
Is DA part of the curriculum at CGSC?

Maurice. We just ran 16 separate Division-level exercises using DA to train over 600 students,...yeah, you could say it's part of the curriculum! :D
As for the rollover and such, there is not currently any plans for that feature, but we are gathering data for a new request for changes/upgrades to DA for our use, so maybe we can get that in - I'll float it by my boss.

I appreciate you passing along that suggestion for inclusion as an Army request. In addition to that, I hope some of the other suggestions that have been forward on this forum will get due consideration by Col Lunsford as he considers potential upgrades and/or changes. I do understand that DA is being used as a training tool by the CGSC, however, it is also being marketed to wargamers by HPS. That being said, I'm going to continue to encourage DA wargamers to place suggestions they may have here. Hopefully, the suggestions that wargamers come up with with mirror those made by CGSC staff. If they don't, I hope they will be considered on their own merits.

Understood. Good idea. How doI edit copies of standard DA icons and change colors? I have MS Paint and Adobe Photoshop 5.5

You have to use an Icon Edit tool that opens icon files. I have made some already and they are in the Mis Files for DA.
