View Full Version : Continuing the NATO vs WP Campaign?

What are your thoughts on continuing this campaign BUT using another format for tracking units and movement? COCAT is obviously making some things more complicated (and many can't get it to work). Everyone seems ready to play the battles themselves but no one seems to interested in the admin/management/commander work for the teams themselves. Without the input at that level we'll never get to the actual fighting part.

For this reason I am seriously thinking about converting the campaign to another operational management tool such as CyberBoard (like we are using with the Operation Compass Campaign) or maybe even TOAW-III? With those 2 methods players will not be able to plot moves like they can in COCAT BUT they will be able to post moves based on hex paths.

Another thing is there is an updated version of COCAT (MOCAT) that has its own installer and uninstaller so that should make it easier for interested players to contribute and help with the plotting movement orders, etc.

Questions, comments?

The system we are using in the test is much simpler and thus preferable.

Converting this to the other format is proving difficult. Not the map but having to create unit icons (almost 150) for all the units the teams have separated their forces into. Each would have to be easily identifiable as which specific unit it is. :nervous:

Also, players will have to give their units move orders from screenshots by either posting moves in a hex by move path or by "painting" them in a graphic utility.

We may be forced to go with the other, more modern MOCAT version if the campaign is to continue or find a way to regroup the units back into Battalion size icons in order to reduce the workload on creating all the icons. Regrouping the units may not be a bad option as there has not been large scale contact between the forces at this point so a little shifting of units a left or right hex or 2 from where they currently are loated might not unbalance things.
