Now that we have some fine British units to play with, I have finished my second set of maps. The first is the Goose Green area and the battle of Darwin Hill while the other is 3rd Para's battle at Longdon Mountain. Plese feel free to grab them in the map section of the HQ and comment as to what you like or do not like so I can improve my skills.
I have to say if anyone can actually do better than the British did in taking Longdon then it's a real accomplishment, that map was an experiment in frustrations given the elevations used and the short LOS you get with a target. Real knife fighting!
Thanks all-

Very true T,

Mount Longdon turned out to be the costliest battle of the campaign, with seventeen Red Berets killed and over thirty five wounded.

Thanks for the maps

That's why I like wargaming... you get a feel in a small way at least for what it was like to make choices and face problems that history and the people involved confronted.

Incidently I lost almost 3 platoons just trying to dislodge an AA battery guarded by 2 squads of entrenched CIS engineers. X-Ray... what maps are you working on? I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

I started work on an urban area map, I wanted to see how POA2 panned out with close quarter combat. To be honest I found the LOS a bit of a nightmare and together with having to micromanage my units not very realistic.

So I’m waiting for the new patch (with the fixed smoke problem) to try out some Cold War stuff. And of course I’ve been using a couple of your maps for mini scenarios. :cheeky:

Hey nice one T. Now when are you going to produce the scenarios to go with the maps.

As the developer for Prosims The Falklands War 1982 I,m pleased to see that the campaign holds some interest in the wargaming community. I have not yet looked at the Mount Longdon map but I do like the work you have put in on the Darwin/Goose Green area.

cheers

Hi Gary, thanks for the compliments... I plan on working out some scenarios once I get the next patch and put it through the paces. I am mostly waiting to see how scenario design has changed before I commit to it.
I want to re-create all four major battles as a scenario pack. What can you share regarding the Falklands project?

Hi T,

Not to much to report so far on The Falklands War 1982. I am well into the production of the maps right now. Because of the level of detail each map is taking around six weeks to produce. I intend, with Pat Proctors blessing, to keep the forum updated on progress from time to time.

cheers

Hi T

I'll be happy to upload some screen shots at a later date, but I will have to clear it with Pat Proctor first.
