Round Three will start on Monday, April 9th.

I have to get some information from Mangus on the standings from round one, and get the portions of round 2 that he accepted so I can get the standings in order.

Round 3 will be non mirrored, and will cover a portion of the Siege of Tobruk.

This thread will be used for all Round 3 correspondence.

I'm waiting with baited breath. It'll be hard for me to achieve a new low after the last round but I'll give it a go! :dead:

Guys,

I still haven't quite got everything worked out on the admin side of things, but you will get rd 3 this week, even if I have to *gasp* redo the admin work for rds one and two.

Shreck,

That is the fun part. Take it from an Axis playtester. There are about 15 different ways to assault Tobruk, with no difference in 10 of them and sudden death in 5.

After about 4 days of getting "Fisheyed" from staring at the map, i belive i have found my plan, which will probably last a grand total of about 3 seconds after the opening bell, lol. :paperbag:

Well, I've developed my own cunning strategy. Obviously I can't say too much, but I hope to send in the regimental band on rafts to take the docks, and the bicycle company will be parachuting in where you least expect them. The camels will probably come straight up the road.

You will have to thank Tac for the Guns, we split the work.
One doing the map, one doing the OOB. Seems to work quite well for designing games.

For the British Players!

I have been alerted to some problems with the TO&E. Namely a certain easily seen defect that might have been overlooked. If you have this issue, email or PM me this weekend. If a majority feel that this defect will affect the outcome of their game, I will attempt a hasty rewrite of the problem (or more likely, have Dan do the rewrite for me as it is a really really short little change). Your PMs must be sent before Sunday afternoon, as I return to the field for yet more combat training (also known as building and holding a firm base against our infantry instructors and however many of their buddies that they want to bring to the party.

Don't want to say too much for those who have not started. The HOOD and I are engaged (No Numbers not that kind of engagement, you Canadians!) with a few shots ringing out. Plenty of dust heading for my defensive positions. The real action should start soon.:devious:

Quick report from the British, we've decided to start early, mercilessly pounding Schrek into so much scrap iron! I won't say how so as not give all away, but lets just say that Schrek is justifiably unhappy!

Each battle in this tourney is designed specifically to give the players a lesson in General Rommel's tactical achievements. From the looks of the map, the British obviously have the opportunity to pull of a rugged defense in depth, using the terrain of the city to their advantage. The Germans have 2 lessons to apply to achieve a decisive victory, though I cannot speak of those yet, as they would reveal the force compositions. As the games begin to wind to a close, I will speak on them.

On another note, my field training concluded Friday, and I am proud to say that my fire team, also known as !Team Chuck Norris! kicked arse and took names. We cleared a house holding 3 insurgents (Marine Infantry Grunts) and 2 IEDs (1 Command detonated, the other tripwire) without a single casualty. The house had upwards of 5 rooms, and we dealt with the IEDs, grenades, RPGs and AKs. We then repeated the feat by rolling through the house in reverse to medivac our squad leader, who had been hit by a grenade (a practice one) during our initial assault.

I would also like to note that our MOSs were all logistics, not Infantry.

Ok Gents. I'm curious. How do you all like the non-mirrored tournament? It is definitely a shift for the designers, for while it makes each scenario more painstaking to design, it also opens up nearly unlimited opportunities. Gone are the days of you knowing the enemy's TO&E, and those sitreps and intel reports can be either highly accurate or dangerously wrong. You also have to rely more on your objective orders, as you no longer have an accurate view of what forces and where they will be deployed.

But enough from me, I want to know how you like the current way of operating the tourney.

In all for non-mirrored games. I dont like mirrored games. Thanks for giving us a non-mirrored game this round. :D

I do however have a problem with the force selection in Rd. #3. Ill get to it later once everyone has played the game.

Even though we aren't yet duking it out heavily yet I must say I enjoy the unknown better than the mirror battle. It's exciting to see the game develop and the dust clouds materialize into trouble.

I reserve the right to change my mind if the Hood begins killing me with Italian Tigers!!:surprise: :surprise:

On about turn 22 in my game with Bertram. It's been very heavy going for my Axis lads, but now we seem to be making a bit of progress. Some of those flags still look very far away though....Got badly mauled by aircraft in the earlier stages, and nobody was sure who's aircraft they were! :surprise:

It's a great scenario - full of surprises and excitement for the attacker and seems well-balanced so far, and the Axis have a nice wide selection of gear to play with. Good work, sir! :salute:

Got badly mauled by aircraft? That would be an understatement for what happened to me. :freak::mad::angry:

As for well balanced, i dont think so. Seeing how the Germans had no AAA assets.

Ill give you guys the full poop on my game with BRO_Sapper when its over. Thankfully it will be done in 2 turns.
