Hey guys, is it ok to post pics here so we can talk tactics about them?
For example this is a 6-pdr in Normandy, it's interesting but it looks staged for the camera to me, what do you think?
I mean, would the crew really sit it in the middle of the road like that?
Would you?

Possibly posed....on the other hand, other possibilities exist:
- Local intelligence tells them there are no Panthers/Tigers in the area? (not sure I'd take it at face value if I were them, but I wasn't there)
- They got a FNG officer that told'em to do something stupid....wouldn't be the first or only time that's happened.
- Maybe it's just infantry down at the end of the lane they're shootin' at?
- Maybe they just got there and that was the only place they could get to in time?
Still, it does seem to have a posed look to it, don't it?
If they were lookin for bear and there was time to set up, I'd a put'em off to the side, possibly right behind the building with infantry support in the building itself to try for a flank shot on whatever happened to come down the road. Of course, the a competent German advance would clear the building with infantry before driving down the road.

Staged.
Several indications:
1. There are two ready rounds on the back of the gunshield on the loader's side (RHS). A penetration could set the rounds off and kill/maim the whole lot. If the gun were in action those be removed and fired first. They could be special ammo, but they still should not be there for the crew's safety.
2. The gun has not fired because the spades have not dug in from recoil--yet.
3. No spent casings around the gun.
4. The 6 Pdr was a poor anti-personnel weapon and there is no visible target nor troops surrounding the weapon to support it.
Great shot though. t looks like a dio waiting to happen.

Good points.
The spades out should have been the dead giveaway.

Now I do, thanks Spike. Say, does this remind anyone of that one picture with the American guys in the Ardennes where they are looking down a row of trees?
