I'm curious what type of scenarios are used with DA in the Army classroom environment.I realize that most of these won't be available to us due to various reasons (maps being limited distribution, etc), however, I am curious about the type and scale of the scenarios. Do the students at the school come up with their own scenarios in response to assignments or are they simply tasked with fighting on scenarios created by the instructors?

What about the scale and the scope of these battles? Are they comparable to the ones offered on the Decisive Action CD-ROM, or are they much larger and complex operations? DA seems to have the potential to do more than we've used it for so far and I'm curious how far it is being pushed.

We used a scenario created by our shop with the input of the course author (an instructor). It was a Division-Level scenario, and included the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd BCT in the Trans-Caucasus region. We actually used a Russian Map for this exercise, which can be found on the internet. DA was pushed so far during this exercise that Jim Lunsford was on-hand ro help run it!

That's about all I can tell you for now.:cheeky:

I know that the unit limit has been vastly increased for DA, but I'm wondering how well the system performs under the strain or large engagements. I don't see any reason that it shouldn't do well, but I'm doing some tests.

I know that huge scenarios run the risk of becoming a lot for the player to manage, however, no more so than the larger TOAW or Panzer Campaigns scenarios which can take up to an hour for the computer to move its forces. DNO takes a human player three or four hours of real time for each turn (if you're good). Large DA scenarios, of course, make the player work a lot harder, but I don't see whay the system can't handle them (within reason).
