View Full Version : Run-Time Error 6 "Overflow"?

When playing the NTC1 scenario, some strange things begin to happen around Turn 6. My Main/55ID begins engaging 102 MRB with artillery (should be standard since Corps artillery and Air Cav still attached, with air cav linked to NAI). They then return fire on E/1-1 CAV, who was in their sector on reconnaissance during the turn, but had since returned to rear positions. Shortly thereafter (during the Log phase) I get an Runtime Error "Overflow" and the game crashes.
I did have alot of resupply convoys operating at the time as I prepared for an attack.
Has anyone else run into this problem?

We had a few problems with this error during the exercise, and the latest patch has fixed it. It seems there is, indeed, a problem with the log ops, especially if you switch to manual and pump-out a buttload (I will not specify what equals a buttload!;) ) of supply convoys. We had one class that had more than 50 convoys out and about.
Will try and get in touch with Jim to see about getting the latest patch up.
(I will not specify what equals a buttload!;) )
If I remember from CGSC, a buttload is less than a s###load but more than a load. Correct?
BTW, as a lurker and very occasional poster, I'm getting back into DA as a result of the patch and what appears to me to be renewed emphasis on the game. I'm glad to see that.

That sounds about right to me. :D

I hope it comes out soon. I really am beginning to like this game, but am apprehensive about playing now because it could crash.

I have not had that crash as of yet. I usually keep the logistics set to the default model so that may be part of it.

Okay, I just had the same crash with the latest patch installed. It was in a custom scenario I am working on and I was not using manual logistics. Crashed to the desktop and I lost the game I was playing on turn 15.

May be something in the scenario or the units you made for it. I recommend you take the last autosave.btl file in your saved games folder and send it to Jim Lunsford. This will allow him to debug the program and possibly find the problem.
Unfortunately, if you have played another game since then, you're screwed!:p
Actually, it may be best if you tried to replay the scenario and recreate the error, then send the autosave to Jim.
Remember, DA saves each turn BEFORE it runs it, so you can pick-up from that same turn if there is a problem, or send the files to Jim and ask him to see if he can find the problem. (Jim's gonna love me for this!)

Yep, I already contacted him and sent him the last file. I will try to duplicate it if I can.
