I'm working on an OOB for several US units in the '90-'91 time frame and I'm not sure which one of the entries would be correct. This OOB is for the 1AD, 3AD, 1INF(M), abd 1CAV divisions. There are three different armor brigades available in the default DA setup. These are:
Armor Bde (balanced)
Armor Bde (separate)
Armor Bde (AR Hvy)
These OOB I would need, obviously, would be for an brigade compased of M1's or M1A1's. I'm not sure what the above unitsd actually represent. There are OOB's included in DA for all sorts of armor battalions, but only a few brigades. The battalions are easy to understand as they say "Armor battalion (T55)" and things like that. The brigades aren't so easy to grasp.
I'm having much the same problem with the infantry brigades. Any help would be appreciated.
I might just be of some help here since I was in 1AD in 87-89 and 197th INF BGD (M) 89-90.
Although I was in Infantry brigades the whole time I think the Armor was just flipped with the Infantry.
From what I recall we would be looking at:
2 Armor Battalions.
1 Infantry Battalion (Mechanized of course)
1 Arty Battalion of I think 155s
1 Support Battalion.
From that time I do know the Infantry (M) Battalions consisted of 4 line Companies. A-D
1 Anti-tank Company E (Tow equiped Bradleys)
HHQ- This Consisted of
Battalion and Co. HQ PLT.
Supply PLT
Commo PLT
Medical PLT
Scout PLT (Tow equiped Bradleys)
Mortar PLT (4.2" on M106s)
Support PLT
Maintanance PLT
Mess PLT
I think the Armored Battalions had about the same break down as well again substituting Armor for Infantry.

Thanks BigDog, but I understand that part. I have detailed OOB information on all kinds of stuff. What I'm not quite sure of is how that OOB information relates to:
Armor Bde (balanced)
Armor Bde (separate)
Armor Bde (AR Hvy)
What exactly do these represent? What's the difference between a "balanced" armored brigade and a "heavy" armor brigade? Yes, I'm aware that one has a greater RCP than the other, but ZI'm not sure what each is supposed to represent.

Yes, I'm aware that one has a greater RCP than the other, but ZI'm not sure what each is supposed to represent.Balanced means an equal mix of INF and AR Bn's (2 and 2), AR HVY BDE has more AR Bn than INF Bn (2 and 1), and a Separate Brigade is like a "Pocket Division",...too big for a Brigade, and too small for a Division, and is usually a Brigadier General Position instead of the normal Colonel position as commander. Think of the Separate Bde as a more robust Brigade, with ADA, FA, ENG, and CS units inherent in the Brigade. One example of this would be the 172nd Sep Bde in Georgia.
Hope this helps!

Yes, that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
I was wondering on that as I figured surely you could come up with the more or less generic OOB stuff I offered up. I was in the 197th but all us combat arms guys were on one side of the installtion and honestly I never did wander thru the rest of it and just cant rember what all the hell we had.
BTW just one of those asides we were the "Sledge Hammer" Brigade and they used to do brigade PT with Peter Gabrial's song playing on the PA. To this day damn if that song dont get on my nerves.
