Thanks, Don. I have the game but haven't installed it yet. Incredible backlog and all I really want to do is play Dawn of War.

SupCom is fundamentally very different than any other traditional RTS, including Dawn of War. The battles are much, much larger, and the game is really geared towards hardcore RTS multiplayer matches. In single player mode, SupCom is an improved over most other RTS games, but it will play out very similar in most respects. But in multiplayer gamer, SupCom reins supreme.

Battles are hard-hitting, fast paced, and extraordinarily lethal. Time is not your friend, and even small tactical errors will give an experienced opponent the opportunity he needs to pound your defenses to dust and smash your main base.

I consider myself a pretty tough RTS player, but I have been beaten down numerous times on GPGnet so far. I also tend to go straight for the higher tech levels right away so I can get the really lethal weapons, but this has left me vulnerable to the early rush. I'm slowly learning to compensate for this.

SupCom is also the most demanding RTS game to date. It's graphics are wonderful on really high settings, the maps are absolutely gigantic, and the scale of the battles goes far beyond what other RTS attempt to do. This means players with modest or average computer rigs will not be able to play the game as the designers intended. This game is aimed squarely at the hardcore RTS player, and it does not fail to deliver in that respect. More casual players (and those who mostly play single player) may not find SupCom their cup of tea.

Oh, I know it's much different but, after two months of intricate games, I just want to play DoW for awhile.

Ah, for the cumalitive patch! Don't bother with the incremental version of the one Don mentions. You have to get the complete one to download the next one, 3220.
