Just using this thread to try out a sig image.
Ahh good it worked (he can be taught :)).
At any rate, this game is worth looking into folks.

Very nice! I need to look into making my own graphical sig.
Commander? What game is that? You have a URL I could check out?
Commander Europe at War, there's also a review at Wargamer.

Review link is located on the link above.
They made the image for the specific purpose of allowing beta testers to use it to drum up some attention, so I suppose I am in no way infringing on my duties by doing just that :)
I signed on as a beta tester last year (near end of year) and they have been testing in stages. I just got activated. Had more or less put the game out of my mind till now.
Suffice it to say my initial thoughts are this is going to make a lot of hex lovin turn using grogs mighty happy.

Normally, I would just roll my eyes after reading "a turn-based grand strategy simulation, for one or two players, using corps-sized units (think Strategic Command)". Jeez, we could really use another one of those WWII wargames....
However, knowing how critical you are of most games, this one now has me intrigued. :)
Commander – Europe at War is the first product jointly produced by Slitherine and by Swedish newcomer Firepower Entertainment. Both companies share a guiding philosophy: instead of rolling over and allowing themselves to be coerced or simply flattened by the non-PC platforms, they’ve joined forces to move into the widening empty space left by big developers who, in the words of one of Slitherine chief designers “are devoting all their efforts toward producing eye-candy for the mass-market consoles, and leaving the hardcore PC strategy gamer – who is typically more educated and more concerned with intelligent content than the gamers who’re standing in line to buy the newest video device – in a position of having to chose from a dwindling supply of new titles, or of retiring to sulk alone with older games that still offer the depth and addictiveness he’s yearning for.”
Right on the money! :salute:
Most games in this genre seem to 'fail' (imho at least), so while I'm also taking the news with a grain of salt, I still hold out a glimmer's worth of hope that a new one will strike my fancy. The approach taken by Slitherine, and what various 'names' in the industry have to say about them has me interested in checking out the final product.
Any further info you can provide will be inspected in detail, Les.
