View Full Version : Rifle Squads in Piero's TGW 1914-1918
Peiro,
I am wondering: What is the point of having basically empty divisions, such as the 20th and 23rd Light Divs, show up before turn 40, which is when Rifle squad replacements start? They will only soak up needed equipment that should be going to other units, such as arty and horse teams, and will not be usable in combat until turn 40+...
Hi Wyatt,
Yeah, that's a good one.
I often wondered if there could be a mechanism that would allow me the ability to either turn off replacements/limit them to fine tune the supply/repl routine. Maybe add something like that to the pile Ralph is working on, or, something for the 4th version?

Hopefully some day that will be worked on. Until then, however, one can use unit disbands (have a unit with X number of rifle squads disband every turn or so for X turns), but those can't be used in TGW 1914-1918, as the unit limits are used. Perhaps if Ralph was to increase the limit on units. :D

which divs (country?) are you mentioning? russian?
well, the divisions show up at the time of their formation and those who are empty are that they were formed at that time, but not up to strenght. probably, I overlooked at the reinforcements.
but then, divisions in the forming,do have to soak up reinforcements to be formed, right?

The Brit Divisions that form around turn 20-ish are blank. They are able to soak up replacements in art, and trans, but their main eq, Rifle Squads, do not begin being made until turn 40, so you have several divisions showing up that cannot do anything (and really aren't 'forming up' as they aren't taking on any Rifle Squad replacements), and soak up replacements you'd rather have at the front.
Perhaps these Divisions that are deployed before Rifle Squad replacements start at turn 40 should either
a) Be deployed at or after turn 40, or
b) Be deployed with a full, or half compliment of Rifle Squads.

I see, let me dive back into the divisional history of those divisions. I have lots of info on those. I feared it was russian divisions or turkish where unit history is more sifficult to find.

Nope, just the easy British. Good luck, and I appreciate the effort. :D

I have several of those appearing now. Decided to use them as escorts for the Ladies Auxiliary.

Haha. That's about all they're good for.
Any news here, Peiro? (Not to rush you)

In spite of my previous comment I've sent an entire corps of those units down to Africa for exactly that purpose. Basically to garrison Egypt, Sinai and S. Palestine. Maybe the sunshine will help. :)

What turn are you on, Mensch?
